This Saturday (August 12) sees young grime heads Elijah & Skilliam‘s fast-growing Butterz label go head-to-head with one of grime’s finest producers, the legendary Terror Danjah as his Hardrive label represents in the We Fear Silence-curated Butterz & Hardrive event at South London’s Cable club.
Representing opposite ends of the grime generation, Hardrive is the veteran grime producer Terror’s newest label, following his impeccable work as part of the Aftershock camp, which saw him release the seminal ‘Shock To The System’ mixtape, and work alongside the likes of DVA, Bruza, Badness, Flash and understudy DOK. Meanwhile Butterz, in its short history, has been bringing back the fine basics of grime with its blog-come-label with releases from P-Money, Trim and Swindle.
Ahead of the show, we have a quick Q&A with Terror himself, plus the chance to win signed Hardrive vinyl – just read on…

HDR005 which is ‘Selecta’ remixes by Mz Bratt, with remixes by Bok Bok & Royal T. HDR006 is ‘Full Attention EP’ which includes ‘Full Attention’ with singer Ruby Lee Ryder, ‘East Village’ and Jekyll & Hyde.
How did you first hook up with Butterz?
I met Elijah from Butterz a few years back when I still was running Aftershock – Loudmouth Melvin was in Aftershock at the time and had introduced me to Elijah.
Yourself and the Butterz camp are from different generations of grime – what do think the younger generation bring to the scene?
The younger generation bring the fresh energy and keep the momentum going! They have their own ideas and more in tune with what’s going on nowadays.
What have you been listening to lately?
Just old Skool 90’s hip-hop and r’n’b and the odd classic 2003/04 grime set!
What are you most looking forward to at the Butterz vs. Hardrive show?
The new [that’s] music been made for the night exclusively from the whole camp and the beautiful ‘Zumpi’!!!
