T. Williams’ Guide To Deep Teknologi Records

With his ‘Break Broke’ EP currently riding high in the playlists of many of the house/bass scenes leading selectors, not to mention a number of golden solo releases over the past 18 months, Deep Teknologi boss T. Williams is currently on a roll.

Having started up Deep Teknologi Records with dj partner SEF back in 2009, the label has released work from JTRP, MA1 and Deep Teknologi themselves, with their ‘Deep Teknologi: The Remixes’ package featuring work from Scratcha DVA, Altered Natives and Bok Bok.

With UK funky pioneer DJ MA1’s ‘Elektron’ EP released this week, we called T. Williams for a quick intro into the label burgeoning roster.

J Bevin: “Me and him are old mates, growing up in the same area. Originally a hip-hop producer, he turned his hand to house, and some more experimental stuff, he wanted to break the confines, just like me. At the moment he’s working on a new EP for the label, and another label, a new label that Ben Westbeech is starting up. It’s gonna be experimental, he’s just started this really breaky thing. He’s just grafting on y’know?”

MA1: “Obviously one of the guys that pioneered UK funky at its early stages, the latest Deep Teknologi Records EP comes from MA1, who is a long standing affiliate of the label. The ‘Elektron’ EP takes you through MA’s hybrid sound of house mixed with UK underground music, with 4 massive tracks ready for any dance floor. The track choices with this EP was made easy for us by MA as he always delivers.”

Zander Hardy: “He came from grime like me as well, he made a really big track years ago called ‘Rude Sting’, he was going by the name DJ Virus back then, this is how I know him, through music and the grime scene.
I’ve always been a fan of his production, that tune was really big – EZ, Slimzee, they were all playing it on the garage circuit. He’s working with Donao at the moment, really pushing things forward. He just sent me a new zip today of 8 new tunes today, all fire, so expect an EP from him in 2012 as well.”

JTRP: “JTRP were found via the internet, their sound is really now, really current with what’s going on, they’re from Germany and consist of Robophil and Jorge Takai. Again, they’re doing big things over there in Germany, they’re doing parties, so yeah, another EP from them next year.”
