Westway echoes life in the capital.
As well as holding down a monthly NTS show that spans jazz, avant garde, modern classical, ambient, techno and more, London-based artist Kit Grill runs the Primary Colours label. That was the home for his 2013 debut EP, Expressions, before he released the Mirror Image album through Lixo’s GetMe! imprint later that year.
Since then, he’s released the Europe EP, which featured original artwork from himself, before dropping Paradise, which marked a sonic shift in his output – incorporating modern classical and new wave.
Grill’s latest EP, Westway, which was recorded between early 2015 and February of this year, is out today on digital via Primary Colours – alongside a limited run of 200 vinyl which feature design from Alex Sullivan and cover photography by Grill.
It’s an enrapturing listen – from the charged dancefloor swagger of ‘Street Runner’ to the fluttering string work of poignant EP closer ‘Stairway’. You can stream the EP in full below, and order it here.
