Santa Muerte’s guide to the best music in Texas

One for the club kids. Houston duo Santa Muerte have just launched their label Majía with the Oraciones EP, their first release of original material (they previously worked with Venus X’s GHE20G0TH1K outfit on a bootleg bundle). It’s a wild, powerful, hybrid club effort that acts as a condensation of the batida, reggaeton and tresillo rhythms the duo has flirted with in the past.

To help us get a sense of their music’s history – and, more accurately, to let us know what they’re jamming to at the moment – the duo have shared a list of their favourite Texas music. Houston rap dominates, with a couple of electronic beatmakers thrown into the mix. Check it out below, after you’ve finished streaming Oraciones over on Soundcloud.

1. Beatking – BussibaK

One of the best club anthem rapper/producers out there repping Houston aka the ClubGod.

2. Sauce Twinz – Seasoning

They got that “sauce”. One of the better Drake disses they did put them up, and they’re doing big things in 2k16.

3. Dro Fe – Most of Y’all

Repping the Rio Grande Valley, Dro Fe is getting big beats from Sonny Digital and dropping that way down South swag.

4. Maxo Kream – Big Worm

SWAT repping. One to watch in Houston’s rap game.

5. RizzooRizzoo – Splash

Rizzoo cutting up. All about dem Splashtown vibes. Houston rap w/ Migos flow.

6. Rabit – Concrete Hell

The homie Rabit has been doing big stuff, from signing w/ Tri-Angle records to remixing Bjork. He shows no signs of stopping.

7. Ynfynyt Scroll – Tranquilo Skr

From Dallas, TX but residing in NYC, Ynfynyt is dropping major dembow riddims in the dance. Dropping his tunes in every set we play.

8. Lotic – Heterocetera

Houston born, Germany based Lotic has dropped some serious music we fuck with, also a Tri-Angle records alum.

9. Keeper – Stay

Synth soul-vocal trio from Austin, TX, Keeper have being bringing their luscious vibes to the stage and TV. Lookout for a track due soon w/ producer Sines (1/2 of Santa Muerte).

10. Kruxx – End of the Road (feat. Macc Grace)

Young in the game but deep on the beat game. He is one to watch for 2016-2017.

Oraciones is out now on Majía.
