Check out a selection of photos taken on our recent day out at the Red Bull Music Academy Carnival Party 2013.
As many will already know, Notting Hill Carnival is the largest festival celebration of its kind in Europe, attracting over 1 million people over the course of two days, held every August Bank Holiday since 1966. Always a guaranteed lively affair that truly showcases the multicultural make-up of the capital with a celebration of Afro-Caribbean culture and tradition.
After dusting off the cobwebs from Sunday’s activities, which included stints at the brilliant NTS Radio takeover on the Rough But Sweet Soundsystem and Channel One’s relentless rig, we headed for the Red Bull Music Academy’s notorious Notting Hill Carnival party under the Westway. Now in its sixth year the event has become renowned for its dan dada line-ups, flow of free cocktails and hysterical crowd, with this year being no exception.
Our highlights included Sir David ‘Ram Jam’ Rodigan extending his carnival performance by welcoming on stage the legendary Marley Brothers, Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley and Stephen ‘Ragga’ Marley along with with his son Joseph Marley (aka Jo Mersa) – Jamaican reggae artist Wayne Marshall also featured alongside Christopher Ellis and Black Am I. The party was capped in real style with a three way b-2-b dj set from Wookie, MJ Cole and Todd ‘The God’ Edwards.
