Ben Marc is the Birmingham-born producer and double bass player with Dizzee Rascal and Gilles Peterson collaborations under his belt.
Now based in London, the artist and remixer first grew up listening to reggae, pop and folk, would later go onto learn blues guitar, before becoming immersed in electronic music from the likes of Kraftwerk and Mantronixm, as well as D&B and jungle. A distinguished double bass player, Marc has studio experience with names as big as Jose James and Radiohead, and it’s his attention to bass and rhythm that comes across so well in his newest batch of tracks. On March 25 Marc will drop the brilliant Wait EP on Atjazz Record Company, the label headed up by legendary Derbyshire producer, remixer and DJ, Martin Iveson aka Atjazz.
Ahead of release we’re giving you Atjazz’s take on the lead track, a ‘Rudinova Rub’, and it’s a suitably arresting affair. True to form, Atjazz provides a jazz-inflected take on the original that you never quite know where is going next – transporting those eery, stretched out vocals to somewhere strangely tranquil and layering them with darting arp melodies and fervent bursts of percussion.
Wait is out March 25 on Atjazz Record Company. Pre-order it here.
