Man Power

Hear Man Power’s high-octane remix for Brooklyn label Throne Of Blood

The Berlin-based producer flexes on this fiery remix for Throne Of Blood’s latest release.

Berlin-based producer Geoff Kirkwood, aka Man Power has been compared to John Talabot, Michael Mayer and Andrew Weatherall. That’s no mean feat, especially since he’s only been releasing music under the alias since 2013. Over the past three years Kirkwood has appeared on revered labels like Talabot’s own Hivern Discs imprint, Throne Of Blood, Infine, Ene Japan, and Correspondant, which has housed the majority of his releases, including his eponymous debut album.

Brooklyn label Throne Of Blood have gifted us a smorgasbord of diverse material since 2006, dabbling in house, techno, ambient, and everything in-between, with records coming from Bicep, Daniel Avery, Call Super, and many more. The label’s most recent outing comes in the form of the Tumblefish 12″ from Cobby and Mallinder, a collaboration between Hull-based producer Steve Cobby and Stephen Mallinder, of Cabaret Voltaire fame.

Man Power follows last year’s Trans EP for Throne Of Blood with this hefty re-rub of Tumblefish B-side ‘Vitamin C’, which is a cover of Can’s krautrock classic of the same name. The remix is a bolshie affair, announcing itself brilliantly with imposing bass slides that resemble a revving motorcycle, before launching into a full-throttle dancefloor workout. Come along for the ride…

Tumblefish is out April 8 on Throne Of Blood. Order it here.
