First Listen: Woz x Troy Gunner – ‘Sweat’ (Materials)

WxT is the collaborative project of Bristol’s Woz and Troy Gunner, who’ve both seen success of their own in the UK underground in recent years. Woz has produced a collection of EPs on London’s Black Butter Records, whilst Gunner has put out acclaimed records on Mindset and remixes on Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings. He also offered up the impressive ‘Red Wine Lips’ EP last month on Hypercolour’s sister label – Losing Suki.

The pair make their first appearance together on Mak & Pasteman’s Materials imprint with the three-track ‘Convo’ EP, out August 31 on 12″ and digital. They channel their previous bass-heavy constructions into new territories that take elements from a wide sonic palette – including Grime and Techno – for a fierce collection of club workouts. We’ve got an exclusive stream of EP closer ‘Sweat’ – a bold mixture of steamy synth melodies, booming 808s and taut percussive layers. Get in to this one below…

‘Convo’ is out August 31 on Materials.
