First Listen: Mias Void – Return To Bliss (Ikonika Club Remix) (Born Electric)

Hear a weighty remix from Ikonika for Southampton label Born Electric’s newest release.

Matthias Vogt has been pursuing a number of diverse musical projects since the 90s, whether as a formally trained Jazz musician as part of his [re:jazz] project or his Deep House leanings as Motorcitysoul which saw releases on acclaimed labels like Freerange, AUS and Poker Flat. Under his own name he’s also released on Chicago’s Large Music and Fred Day’s Lazy Days Recordings as well as championing his blend of House across the globe as a sought after DJ. He’s set to release his new EP ‘Return To Bliss’ under his Techno-imbued moniker Mias Void on June 22 via James Zabiela’s Born Electric imprint, who previously brought us the sublime ‘Came And Went’ from Iron Galaxy late last year. It’s been featured in recent sets from Berghain/Panorama regular Oliver Deutschmann and includes a collection of remixes including two weighty re-rubs from seasoned underground innovator and Hyperdub-affiliate Ikonika, who delivered a fierce Hyp mix for us back in 2013.

We’ve got an exclusive stream below of Ikonika’s ‘Club Remix’. The serene House style of the original is turned into something more hard-hitting and chaotic, with clattering percussion and hefty, crushing snares it looks back to much of the club music emerging from London in the early 00s. Have a listen below…
