An exclusive from the introspective south London artist.
In 2014, Hector Plimmer gained recognition with an appearance on Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Bubblers Vol 11, alongside beatsmith Al Dobson Jr, jazz luminaries GoGo Penguin, and Moonchild. He went on to win the PRS Steve Reid InNOVAtion Award, cementing himself as a serious talent to watch. These days you can also find him on his regular radio show ’92 Points’ on NTS, and at his event ‘Crates’ Upstairs at the Ritzy in Brixton.
Hector most recently crafted his impressive debut album, Sunshine. Set for release March 17 via Albert’s Favourites, it holds carefully constructed beats that make nods to the work of Flying Lotus and Theo Parrish, but with the subtleties of classic Metalheadz-era drum and bass.
You can check out starry-eyed track ‘I Wish’ below, all subdued vocal passages and pattering percussion.
