First Listen: Dr Meaker featuring Sian Evans – ‘Right Back’ (Break Remix) (V Recordings)

Wrap your ears around this exclusive premiere of the DnB veteran’s gritty reworking of one of the anthems of the summer.

Already being hammered by the likes of Mistajam and Annie Mac, the original version of ‘Right Back’ finds Bristolian collective Dr Meaker joining forces with vocalist Sian Evans, who topped the charts previously with DJ Fresh. A slice of uplifting DnB that recalls classic Hospital Records with its soaring vocals, brass stabs and sampled funk, it seems destined for crossover success.

On the flip remix duties are handed over to Symmetry Records boss Break. More than ten year’s deep into an impressively consistent career, Break has developed a signature sound that is frequently imitated but never better. His version starts off tranquilly enough before falling into a dirt flecked strut, with Sian Evans’ vocals manipulated and stretched across the drop. Contrasting the dark rhythm section with flourishes of light melody, its a track that sits somewhere between festival main stage and sweaty club.

‘Right Back’ comes out 14th July on V Recordings. Dr Meaker are playing at festivals including Outlook and Boomtown this summer, keep up to date with these shows on their official Facebook page.
