Keysound Recordings, the imprint set up by Dusk + Blackdown in 2005, has kept a steadfast devotion to UK club culture that has ensured their unwavering relevance ten years later. Through their acclaimed back catalogue they’ve come to define much of what London dance music represents, with their releases featuring at the most vital underground clubs and pirate radio stations over the past decade. Check out our interview with co-founder Blackdown last year.
Desmond McGouran aka Dublin producer Detboi, has been making music since his days as part of the Xerox Soundsystem in the early 00s, before releasing a handful of records on Cheap Thrills. Having already contributed a number of dubplates to Keysound’s Rinse FM show, next week will see his first appearance on the label with ‘Scatter’. The four track EP is a firm assimilation of early Hardcore and Jungle, mutated into the tempos of House and Garage. We’ve got an exclusive stream of the title track below, a rough and ready mixture of high velocity percussion, chattering claps and disorientating vocal chops that catapult you head first into the darkest depths of the club.
‘Scatter’ is out August 8 on Keysound Recordings. Pre-order it here.
