Forthcoming on Multi Culti’s colossal new Moon Faze Sun Gaze boxset.
Sunderland native Jo Howard has been trickling out high-quality music as Bird Of Paradise since 2014, with releases on the likes of Throne of Blood and Correspondant. He’s also built up a serious reputation as a DJ, performing at his own Cubik party in his hometown, and holding down a residency at Man Power’s Tourist Parties, where he’s played alongside Todd Terje, John Talabot and Daniel Avery. Howard is also a recent addition to the Multi Culti label crew, who are readying their colossal Moon Faze Sun Gaze boxset collection in June. The Canadian imprint was founded in 2013 by Thomas Von Party of Turbo Recordings and Sydney’s Dreems (who also appears on the compilation), and have since released a diverse selection of records from Red Axes, Auntie Flo and Jagwar Ma, among others.
Comprised of the Moon Faze and Sun Gaze (both containing three parts), Howard appears on the first instalment of the Moon Faze trilogy, with other artists on the boxset including Nicola Cruz, Zongamin, Crowdpleaser and Moscoman. Take in Howard’s ‘The Holy Mountain’, which melds a bouncing bassline and skittering drums to great effect – laying down a hazy, late night jam that’s equal parts 4am underground basement and sun-kissed beach.
Moon Faze I is out April 11 on Multi Culti. You can pre-order the Moon Faze Sun Gaze boxset, out June 21, here.
