We’ve got an exclusive stream of Appleblim’ solo contribution to his and Komon’s new EP for Aus.
One of the driving forces behind the fusion of Dubstep with House and Techno, Laurie ‘Appleblim’ Osborne is somewhat of a legendary figure in recent dance music history. The Bristol based producer enjoyed a none more auspicious start to his career just under ten years ago with his co-ownership of the now defunct Skull Disco imprint alongside Shackleton. Together they forged an aesthetic – both sonically and visually, that has resonated strongly ever since. Not content with participating in one of the most striking labels of the last decade, Osborne went on to start up another imprint Apple Pips – which remains a continual source of quality forward facing electronic music to this day.
A fixture of Will Saul’s Aus Music since 2010, Osborne returns this summer with the ‘Motion Blur’ EP made in collaboration with Kieran ‘Komon’ Lomax. Following on from previous efforts for Aus and Apple Pips, the pairing have once again submitted a richly textured collection of tracks that all pack a suitable amount of dancefloor friendly low end. Here for your listening pleasure ahead of its release next Monday 4th August, we have Appleblim’s solo effort – ‘Echos Retreat’ – a cut that’s as ripe for home listening as it is sweaty fist pumping. Beginning smooth pads and coruscating synth ascensions, the track grows into an elegant House strut – thanks to the assistance of some chunky bass and some Acid leaning flourishes. Give it a listen on the player below before checking out the whole EP next week…
