Lo-fi house duo Nas1 first appeared on the scene with 2014’s Super Quartet EP. Hailing from Bologna, the pair’s dusty MPC jams take influence from Detroit techno, electro boogie and raw forms of off-kilter dance music.
Their productions have found way on a number of underground labels including Bosconi Extra Virgin, Odd Socks and Money $ex Records, whilst they’ve also seen a variety of guest appearances, perhaps most notably on Kyle Hall’s Boat Party LP.
Nas1’s latest effort comes via their home town label, SorryForThis Records. A multi-layered 4 track EP that pushes their kit to its most extremes, the Stone Cat EP sees the pair extend their ties to the Motor City, this time coming via a remix from Sound Signature legend Marcellus Pittmann.
Ahead of its release, we’re excited to premiere ‘The Springer’, an almost improvisational acid jam where channels are pushed firmly into the red line and crunchy components freely flutter round the kick drum. Rough house beats just the way we like ’em.
Nas1’s Stone Cat EP is out September 13 on SorryForThis Records. Pre-order it here.
