We’re giving away a bumper prize to celebrate the 6th birthday of club renegades Night Slugs.
Never knowingly under ambitious, co-founder Alex ‘Bok Bok’ Sushon’s chief aim when starting Night Slugs as a club night back in 2008, was to “bring on a new era”. Surveying the Night Slugs discography over the last 4 years – you’d be hard pressed to argue that him and James ‘L-Vis 1990‘ Connolly haven’t achieved this goal. Roping in traces of Grime and Garage with elements of bass-heavy sub genres around the world, their inaugural release – Mosca’s ‘Square One’ was a genre defying game changer that set the tone for what has followed since. Responsible for introducing the world to the likes of Jacques Greene, Girl Unit and Jam City – Night Slugs have found the sweet spot between innovation and dance-floor readiness, refusing to sit still for even a second. Now extending their reach across the Atlantic thanks to Kingdom’s sister label Fade To Mind – Night Slugs look set to remain ahead of the curve for years to come.
Born from a club night, there’s no doubt at all that this Friday’s birthday celebration at Oval Space will be one hell of a party. Label heads Bok Bok and L-Vis 1990 are joined by ‘Slugs stalwarts Girl Unit and Kingdom, as well as footwork pioneer RP Boo, guaranteeing an evening of mixed styles and tempos which is added to nicely by special guest Head High (aka. Shed), who dropped a surprise 8-track EP earlier this week. To get in the festive spirit we’ve joined forces with Oval Space and Night Slugs to give away one extra special birthday prize (pictured below), including:
4 x tickets to Friday’s Night Slugs 6th Birthday party at Oval Space
1 x £50 bar tab on the night
1 x vinyl copy of Bok Bok’s recent EP, ‘Your Charizmatic Self’
1 x Night Slugs snap back cap
