When most people hit 30, they start to think about calming down a little bit, not going out clubbing so much and starting to save to put that mortgage down on a house. But Mixmag isn’t most people (we’re more of a multi-platform media outlet really) and no such thoughts have passed our collective minds. No, in fact we plan to use our 30th birthday as a time to reminisce a little on our illustrious past, but mainly, to throw a great big bloody party!
And who better to celebrate 30 years in the game with than Fatboy Slim? From number ones as Beats International and Fatboy Slim to attracting 250,000 to the Big Beach Bootique in Brighton in 2002, whenever something on a colossal scale has happened in dance music, Norman Cook has usually been involved. And with a global touring schedule as packed as ever, we’re over the moon to welcome Fatboy Slim to Village Underground to play a very special Mixmag Live.
Joining our headliner will be Raf Daddy, Greco-Roman Soundsystem affiliate and one half of the ever-unique UK house duo, The 2 Bears. Keeping things close to home, we’ll also be welcoming production two-piece Maribou State, whose ‘Mask’ collaboration with live artist Pedestrian this year gained wide-spread support and proved them to be the ones to watch for later this year. Rounding off our birthday bill is Defected by way of Mexico associate, Louie Fresco, whose versatile deep house arrangements have garnered global underground support since 2011.
Tickets are just £20 and generously include an exclusive 30 year anniversary Fatboy Slim mix CD and edition of Mixmag, featuring specially edited guest pages and opinion. An extremely rare chance to see this bastion of underground electronic culture in an intimate venue, make sure you head down to catch the timeless and explosive Fatboy Slim in action on 20th June 2013.
