Hobbies of Today Thurs monthly launch

Basing House, 25 Kingsland Road, London, E2 8AA, United Kingdom

Hobbies of Today launches a new monthly Thursday party session at Basing House hosted by Marketing Music’s head honcho Tim Paris. The blue print for the night is simple each month pull in a great guest to join Tim in the dj booth. For the November soiree we are excited to have Alex Jones owner of Hypercolour, Glasstable, Losing Suki, and initials labels and 1 half of Dense and Pika. Previous Hobbies of Today guest this year have included Remain (Meant Records/ Paris), Siopis (Get Physical Records). Tim Paris has been on a roll recently with the launch of his acclaimed long player Dancers which has been smashing the dance charts recently.

Alex Jones (Hypercolour, Glasstable, Losing Suki, Dense and Pika )-The co-creator of the influential Hypercolour, Glass Table, Losing Suki labels, Alex Jones is a name that is rightly associated with unerring quality regardless of genre boundaries. A sharp wit and refusal to take life too seriously is contrasted by a cast iron reputation within electronic music that has seen the East-Londoner play the world over and release on some of the most lauded labels around. As a producer, Jones takes huge risks – combining disparate sounds and grooves into tracks that achieve a rare characteristic in most house and techno, uniqueness. His off kilter, sometimes challenging but always enduring output has seen him release for XL Recordings, No.19, Turbo, Glimpse and Kindisch while releases for his beloved Hypercolour continue to impress critics and fans alike. Much as his personality is echoed in his work as a producer,
Tim Paris-Tim’s label, Marketing Music, has quietly gone about releasing some of the most innovative and gloriously confounding electronic house music of the past decade, and his collaboration with ex Black Strobe bohemian Ivan Smagghe, It’s a Fine Line, has borne fruit, after juicy fruit. Dancers, his first full-length release, was signed by Canadian label My Favorite Robot. Switching effortlessly electro to house and new wave disco
