Born in Metz, France, Ashes 57 is an artist best known for her work with Loefah’s SWAMP81 imprint. Starting out doing graffiti in her home town, Ashes fine tuned her craft working as an intern for famed Obey artist Shephard Fairey in Los Angeles. Developing a distinct black and white line drawn style, she went on to work for legendary NYC Dubstep night Dub War, eventually meeting Loefah who commissioned her to design sleeves for new label. Perfectly capturing the label’s gritty urban aesthetic with a style and flair all her own, she’s gone on to design t-Shirts, flyers and much more for the label. Also an accomplished photographer and with a music video directing credit to her name (for Rashad’s frenetic ‘I Don’t Give A Fuck’), Ashes’ influence continues to grow.
