The Stowaways just released their new single Time For Change and played at various venues in London. Their outstanding live shows have led to them holding a residency at Brick Lane’s ‘Cafe 1001′, supporting New Young Pony Club at Prague’s prestigious ‘Meet Factory’ and headlining the Roundhouse’s emerging artist industry showcase.
Next months are looking even more busy: they’re playing at Nozstock Festival then they planned two acoustic performances for the London 2012 Olympics and in between them they’re even playing at the Essex’s best summer festival “Brownstock”. This family run festival has grown and this year will feature sets from Nero, Zane Lowe and many more.
“These boys could be one small break away for getting proper big” Crack Magazine
“Crisp tight arrangements and fresh, vigorous musicianship, topped off by lovely impassioned vocals. An emerging London band to watch with interest in 2012.” – Tom Robinson (BBC 6Music)

In their own words: “Horse Meat Disco is dedicated to the industry of human happiness… Its the queer party for everyone; Homos and Heteros, club kids, bears, fashionistas, naturists, guerilla drag queens and ladies who munch. Musically its a disco behemoth of classics, italo disco, oddities and punk funk.”

This Autumn, Corsica Studios will be 10 years old. To commemorate this remarkable achievement we’ll be presenting a series of 10 exclusive events that reflect our tastes and define what Corsica Studios is all about. To launch the series we’re delighted to be welcoming Future Disco to Corsica for the first time and together we’ve assembled a line-up of absolutely epic proportions. For the launch event Future Disco have totally raised the bar and put together a raft of talent responsible for producing some of the most interesting, influential and commercially successful electronic music over the past 10 years and it is no exaggeration to state that this is one of the biggest line-ups Corsica has ever hosted.
James Murphy is not only the man responsible for the sought-after New York-based record label DFA, he’s also the mastermind behind the band LCD Soundsystem, and alongside the brilliant Pat Mahoney, whose Djing is as dexterous as his drumming, he will be headlining tonight’s special show. The band called it a day in April this year following three huge albums but it is no understatement that the LCD project continues to influence a generation of music buyers.
From one great band to another, Hot Chip are the true pioneers of electronic-inspired music of our generation. Their latest album ‘In Our Heads’ continues that tradition with more stand out, quirky pop cuts. They will be playing records alongside their supremely talented cohorts 2 Bears – Raf Rundell and Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard – and will deliver a unique “versus” set for the first time in London. Expect some riotous DJ tag-team action of the highest order
DFA mainstay Juan Maclean, whose DJ Kicks album should be integral to everyone’s music collection, won’t need to trick the crowd in loving house music on this occasion, he will instead take them all on an unforgettable journey through the dance decades.
Finally Sean Brosnan, who is the force behind the Future Disco compilation series and events, completes proceedings. After a summer residing at Space in Ibiza and an event schedule that packs in Helsinki, Croatia and Amsterdam, this is sure to be Future Disco’s biggest London line up to date. The only advice offered is get tickets early as capacity is limited and this is a show you won’t want to miss.
As well as celebratory parties with several of the promoters who’ve helped make Corsica the place it is today we’ll be showcasing a number of our in-house nights and embarking upon some more exciting collaborations so stay tuned for more news.

After two sold out capacity shows back in November, Soundcrash & The Doctor’s Orders are proud to present one quarter of the greatest Hip-Hop groups of all time, A Tribe Called Quest, in the form of the five foot assassin Phife Dawg performing live.
He is preceded by a screening of Michael Rapaport’s award winning ‘Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest’ film documenting the highs and lows of Hip Hop’s Golden Era’s most celebrated group. Featuring an original soundtrack by Madlib and including humorous & insightful interviews with the likes of ?uestlove, De La Soul, Ghostface Killah, Pharrell Williams, Adam Horowitz and Mary J Blige as well as extensive accounts from Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, Jarobi White and Ali Shaheed Muhammad, never has the story of A Tribe Called Quest been better told. The screening will be followed by an exclusive live show by original Tribesman Phife Dawg featuring ATCQ classics from ‘People’s Instinctive Travels’, ‘Midnight Marauders’, ‘Low End Theory’, ‘Beats, Rhymes & Life’ as well as new material.
An essential night for A Tribe Called Quest enthusiasts and music lovers in general.

Nick Curly, Cécile Records boss and man behind recent debut LP, Between the Lines – is a name that has defined the image of the global club scene over the last few years like no other. THE PLAYGROUND 3.0
By combining audio, light and 3D projection mapping with force, THE PLAYGROUND experience engages freedom, engulfing all senses without limitations. The momentum plunges you into fearlessness, back from the leap for a free-fall experience from the high-rises of dependability. Saturday 8th September sees THE PLAYGROUND bringing together their strongest line-up yet with PENDULUM, BASSNECTAR (UK DEBUT), ZEDD, HUORATRON, STENCHMAN and a SPECIAL GUEST to be announced soon.
PENDULUM:
As one of the most recognised names in drum n bass today, PENDULUM make a fitting headliner to an already outstanding line-up. Since the release of the ground-breaking ‘Hold Your Colour’ in 2005, PENDULUM became one of the first drum n bass to achieve mainstream popularity. Which lead to a headline performance on Glastonbury’s Dance tent and dozens of other festivals wordwide.
After their second album, ‘In Silico’ PENDULUM became a live band including drums, guitars and keys, giving their sound a more rocky edge and breaking into the alternative scene. Gaining them the mantra of ‘The New Prodigy’. And their latest album ‘Immersion’ became the act’s first #1 album in the UK and preceeded an extensive tour of headline festival shows and arenas.
PENDULUM have since gone on hiatus while vocalist Rob Swire and bassist Gareth McGrillen consentrate on their new project KNIFE PARTY. But the group have announced a new album for 2014 and will continue to rock crowds with their DJ sets the world over.
BASSNECTAR:
BASSNECTAR is the brainchild of Lorin Ashton, and it exists as an open-sourced musical
project that is as diverse as it is heavy, as raw as it is meticulous, and as fierce as it
is imaginary. Spanning the spectrum of sonic style, the music covers every genre
imaginable and smashes it all into a synthesis of intense, wobbling basslines and
hypnotic soundscapes. He has remixed/collaborated with the likes of KRS-ONE, FEVER RAY, DIPLO, DJ VADIM and many others. After a long line of sell-out shows, BASSNECTAR never fails to gather monster crowds on the festival circuit. Some of his most celebrated sets took place at the nation’s top festivals including Coachella, Lollapalooza, ACL, Bonnaroo, and Ultra Music Festival. Whether
performing at an intimate club or at a major festival, BASSNECTAR energizes audiences
with an experience unlike any other.
HADOUKEN!:
HADOUKEN! have been pushing their sound and maturing musically since the 2008 release of their debut album ‘Music For An Accelerated Culture’. Since then, their sophomore album ‘For The Masses’, produced by NOISIA, gained them international recognition and sent them to festivals round the globe.
Returning with their first single for new label Ministry Of Sound Records on 5th August 2012 “Bad Signal” (produced by up and coming AEPH). Recently Zane Lowe declared, when awarding HADOUKEN! their second ‘Hottest Record In The World’, sounds like they have found their natural home. Their position in bass culture is unique, bringing both the live element and credibility in the electronic music field together to create something unique in Bad Signal.
Earlier this year, HADOUKEN! released “Parasite” in April as a free download. 2Bad Signal” comes backed with radical remixes from three drum n bass and British house leading lights- XILENT, The Prototypes and Wideboys.
ZEDD:
ZEDD (aka Anton Zaslavski), being born into a family of musicians, began playing the piano at the age of four. After several years of learning to master the piano, Anton began playing the drums in a band, and composed and produced numerous rock songs in his band’s own studio.
In 2009 he began producing electronic club music, to much and quick acclaim. After a peroid of only a few months he attained a remarkable level and went on to win two Beatport remix contests, the “Armand Van Helden / Strictly Rhythm Remix Contest”, and the “Fatboy Slim / Skint Remix Contest”! This was the foundation for Zedd to release several official remixes for artists such as LADY GAGA, BLACK EYED PEAS, P. DIDDY, SKRILLEX and SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA on labels including mau5trap, Interscope, Atlantic and EMI. His hit single “Dovregubben” held the #1 position on Beatport’s Electro House charts for four weeks.
One of the reasons for this rapid development is undoubtedly ZEDD’s unique and highly recognisable style of composition. It stands out as very detailed and carefully produced Electro House, very playful and at the same time remarkably catchy. ZEDD is definitely an artist to look out for in the future.
HUORATRON:
From the metal-hewn flatlands of Finland comes a dark new force in electronic music. Forged in the electrical fire of industrial; nurtured through the apocalyptic feedback of art rock, experimental
and all things disruptive; and championed by the most influential names in EDM and beyond, HUORATRON is deeper, stranger and harder-core than whatever you thought was before.
HUORATRON came to life in 2003, the brainchild of DJ/producer/mad 8-bit scientist Aku Raski. The bearded one’s beginnings are shadowy, as are his methods: There are reports that he
was discovered at a Nordic metal festival, and that he’s developed a bit of code that mutates a track every time it’s downloaded, making it unique to every individual listener. He once described his
music as “the smell of something burning.”
After signing to Last Gang in 2010, Raski hit the studio, emerging a year later with a flintier glint in his eye, and Cryptocracy, his first full-length album, out April 24. He recently opened for SKRILLEX on his L.A. takeover mini-tour, at the headliner’s behest. Throughout 2012, expect the cacophony and doom of Cryptocracy to take the UK and States by storm.
STENCHMAN
STENCHMAN has been rumbling up-and-down the country for the last few years, spreading his dirty face across the walls of every club as he goes. And we are proud to have him on board at Birth Records.
Created in 1985 by rogue scientists trying to splice the genes of a Fresian cow and a severely impaired young gypsy, the results were controversial to say the least and subsequently the creature they had created escaped, taking with him all of their electronic equipment and pharmaceuticals.
After this, sightings of the strange being became infrequent for a while, word had it that he had built himself a small hut out of discarded batteries and unicorn hair and had locked himself inside with the aforementioned electrical equipment and pharmaceuticals, and was using these to produce a sound called “urgh”.
He had a passion for deep rumbling bass and strange wobbling mid sounds, the frequencies of which would often cause involuntary lactation. After a few years honing his techniques, he decided to come out to graze on the fresh pastures of the outside world, although he refused to be seen in public without a mask, due to self-consciousness about the udders attached to his face.
STENCHMAN is now apparently inflicting his audio assaults on unsuspecting ravers worldwide, making people dance in an animalistic nature to his twisted rhythms and humorous samples.
BIRTH RECORDS hosts room 2 w/ support from PUNX SOUNDCHECK, OBEY!, NOVA, TRI:BAL, LOST BOYS, MAKSIMCZYK, WORM, TINY BONES and stay tuned on theplayground.co.uk for more acts to be announced.

In recent months Tiger Beer’s Hidden Depths series has played host to some of the most important UK labels of the day – Hyperdub, Ninja Tune and Hospital Records; paying homage to the producers / artists who have inspired and influenced them as well as giving them an opportunity to showcase their hopes for the future.
Next up in the series is Numbers – a Glaswegian club night and record label formed via an amalgamation of the Stuffrecords, Wireblock and Dress 2 Sweat imprints. Over the last 9 years they have been responsible for some of the biggest seismic shifts in the sound of the UK – not only releasing seminal works by SBTRKT, Jessie Ware, Jamie xx, Mosca, Deadboy and Redinho, but also via close affiliates Hudson Mohawke and Rustie.
The Numbers sound covers a broad spectrum, but at it’s roots is classic hip hop, R&B and disco (evident on recent releases by both Deadboy and Redinho) but possibly even more so, the techno and house sounds of Detroit, New York and of course, Chicago.
In keeping with the ideology behind the Hidden Depths series, they have invited legendary Chicago born producer Lil’ Louis to join Numbers residents Jackmaster, Goodhand and Spencer, with the latter of the three doing an exclusive back to back set with the Big Apple regular, UK Garage legend and one third of Magnetic Man – Artwork.

Every year for our Birthday celebrations, we try to pack in as much high quality music as possible and this year part 1 does exactly that, resembling a mini three room one night festival. On top of that we always try to book a genuine legend to headline the event – someone who’s shaped a scene or pioneered a genre. For our first birthday original junglist Shy FX topped the bill. For our 2nd Birthday UK Garage originators MJ Cole and Zed Bias represented. For our 3rd Birthday Grandmaster Flash headlined, and this year we are proud to welcome the God Father of dub and reggae David Rodigan. This will be a rare intimate club show for Rodigan, and if its anything like the last time he played at Trouble Vision, an opportunity not to be missed.

Candidate are playing at The Trash Bar an high quality music venue, fully renovated and improved to host great bands on friday the 17th of August.
Candidate from Brooklyn makes anthemic, hook-laden rock ‘n’ roll with generous helpings of melody, their songs are catchy, poetic and passionate.
The new album “Physic Dissonance For The Unself” is due to come out on the 15th of October, the latest single April Again has already received great coverage from many webzine and blogs.
They define their sound as dreamrock: a combination of post punk and shoegaze with late 80’s/early 90’s american indie and grounge and brit pop.
If you’re feeling a bit confused and want to find out more about Candidate’s plans and dreamrock, we just interviewed them and you can read it in full on theplayground.co.uk
“This is dreamrock, plain and simple. Fresh, fuzzy, lush, vibrant, psychedelic dreamrock. We might be dealing with the next chillwave here folks, so strap yourselves in: summer 2012 is officially here.”

Big Like House Presents:
TESSELA
Punch Drunk// 2nd Drop// Audio Culture.
Ed Russell (aka Tessela) debuted last year on Dublin’s ever impressive All City imprint, giving an insight into his stripped back, percussive driven style, incorporating elements of Jungle, Techno, House and Dubstep.
Tessela’s release on Punch Drunk saw a step in line with Randomer and Blawan to ape that hollowed-out Untold sound with big, walloping drums and detuned samples for the ruffneck swingers, this was followed up by an equally heavy 12″ for 2nd Drop, and a massive collaboration with Hackman for Audio Culture.
SOUTH LONDON ORDNANCE
Well Roubded// Teal// Audio Culture.
Despite apparently appearing from nowhere, 23 year old producer and DJ South London Ordnance has quickly gathered support from a wealth of established industry figures including Mary Anne Hobbes, Locked Groove, Mosca, Randomer, Dark Sky, Hackman and more – whilst remaining a firm favorite amongst the underground crowd.
His tough, percussive tracks reference the contemporary Swamp 81 / Hemlock sound, but maintain a certain musicality often found lacking amongst the new breed of producers pushing crossover UK Techno.

After residencies at the CAMP Basement and the Gramaphone, during which they’ve showcased eminent artists such as Commix, Phaeleh, A1 Bassline, SpectraSoul, Nu:Tone and Coat of Arms, Soltek kick off the end of the summer with a brand new show at Hidden under the renowned FOUND series. Recognised for the crossover appeal of their parties, Soltek have put together a lineup that emphasises their eclectic take on electronica and affection for combining the established with the up-and-coming.

Topping the bill we have the man behind one of the biggest bass music anthems of the decade “Footcrab”, Addison Groove. Carving his own unique sound using influences from the Chicago ghetto tek and juke scenes, and having recently released his ground breaking debut album “Transistor Rhythm” on Modeselektor’s mighty 50 Weapons imprint, his impact on modern electronica has been colossal and will continue to be for quite some time. Next up is J.Phlip, whose skills on the decks and in the studio have made her a key member of the Dirtybird crew and “Claude Von Stroke’s favourite support dj”. Her effortless blend of booty bass and deep, tech house has been turning heads for a while and we can’t wait to welcome her to Hidden for her Soltek debut. Accompanying her will be Dexter Kane, who’s gone from strength to strength since his memorable remix of seminal classic “Dirty Cash” last year, not to mention his other releases on WYS!, Akbal Music and Lower East, which he co-runs. Last but by no means least is burgeoning producer Throwing Snow, whose critically acclaimed tracks and remixes have garnered support from dance music pioneers Gilles Peterson and Benji B, as well as guest slots on Kiss FM and Ministry of Sound Radio. His XLR8R podcast from January was regarded by many as the best of the series, and with several exciting releases and projects in the pipeline, this year is set to be a defining one. Support comes from Soltek residents Daffadam and Medlam.

Hosting Arch 2 we have independent Berlin/London based label Somethinksounds. Championed by the likes of The Guardian, XLR8R and FACT Mag, they’ve been making waves in the scene for the past year with releases from the likes of Eliphino, Lucky Paul and Ossie’s side project Black Orange Juice. Heading up the bill in their room are a London based duo who’ve been causing a massive stir of late, Dusky. Their debut album from 2011, “Stick by This”, was celebrated by Pete Tong as one of the albums of the year, “Tyto Alba” and “Flo Jam” on Dogmatik have blown up as house/garage underground anthems, and their recent remix of Hot Chip’s “Night and Day” has transformed it into a modern garage bomb. It’s safe to say that with so many accolades to their name already, the boys are only getting started. Next up is Ossie, who’s been making moves on the UK Funky underground for a while now. With recent releases on celebrated labels such as Hyperdub and Lightworks already under his belt, and with forthcoming material on Hypercolour and a second EP on Hyperdub, make sure you keep an eye on this talented and highly original producer. He’ll be joined by Photomachine, an up-and-comer whose intricate blend of garage and house secured him the first release of 2020 Vision’s newly launched sub-label, 2020 Midnight Visions. His track “Technicolour” (backed with “Sine Language”) was put out last year on Raffertie’s imprint Super and received remixes from the likes of Throwing Snow, Optimum and Raffertie himself. Last but not least we have the label’s very own collective, Black Orange Juice, who’ll be adding their unique and infectious sound to the proceedings. Somethinksounds residents and co-founders Andy Lemay and Kzm Kzm Kzm will be rounding up the bill for what promises to be an exciting showcase.

The moment you realize that music, science and state of mind are very closely linked together, everything changes and there’s no turning back. It’s like the world has new meaning and evolution becomes more obvious than ever. It pushes us to strive to new heights and share new experiences through intelligently crafted music.
Naural Label Lauch party aims to do just that, share with you the future of music evolution through the explorations of visionary artists such as SIT, Dasha Redkina and Ken & Davy.
The venue we have chosen for this celebration of sound is “The Basement“, a Funktion One equipped dancefloor that can display all the finest details in sound, right in the heart of party-district Shoreditch.

Bristol boy OCTOBER has been releasing a steady slew of quality house and techno since the latter half of the noughties on his own Caravan and TANSTAAFL imprints, plus more recent output on Apple Pips and Skudge Records. He’s collaborated with Ewan Pearson (as Bhutan Tiger Rescue on Kompakt), Appleblim and Borai, and according to his Discogs entry, enjoys analogue synthesizers, tape machines, electric guitars and smoking… sounds like our kind of guy.
Relative newcomers OUTBOXX (or Jacob and Matthew to their mothers) also hail from the south-west, boasting affiliations to the local Idle Hands crew and Immerse Records. Their take is a deeper, housier (some might say deep house) affair, though no less impressive. The lads’ recent exclusive mix for us was even featured by the clever folk over at Fabric and with good reason too. With a debut LP on Idle Hands but months away, we’re very much looking forward to seeing what they can do.

After our huge event back in May we’ve been looking forward to the next instalment at Cable and we are happy to mark our return in a big way with a stellar Hardware line up featuring the finest future thinkers in D&B! If that wasn’t enough D&B pressure for you, we are pleased to welcome the mighty Rupture to host the rarely opened 2nd room at Cable for a seriously rugged and deep beats session to raise the levels even higher! It doesn’t get better than this. It’s Renegade Hardware at Cable. Be there!

SEPTEMBER 22nd
LEE FOSS, PROJECT FM
Tonight one of the hottest house DJs and producers of the day plays his Warehouse debut… Lee Foss.
Lee Foss and Jamie Jones’ label, Hot Creations, has been at the forefront of a new musical movement. No one had put slow, sexy, disco infused, 80s slanted house with creamy r&b vocals and expected it to work before – but it does. The label’s has released some of the biggest tracks of recent years, often from Foss who plays tonight as he does at WMC, in Ibiza, Sonar, everywhere on a regular basis. There are few more in demand DJs out there than this one. Project FM also plays.

Rhythmatic
Proudly Presents Premiesku “Indirect” Album Launch Party
22 Sept 2012 // 10PM – 6AM
**************Main Yard, off Hackney Wick, E9 5LN***************
Premiesku (Live Analogue / Desolat / RO) – UK Debut
Stathis Lazarides (Rhythmatic, Cavo Paradiso)
Wesley Razzy (Rhythmatic)
Roberto Amo (Above Zero, O!My God Rec)
After a short summer break, Rhythmatic makes a refreshing return with a UK debut from Premiesku, the mutual project between Romanian duo Livio & Roby and George G. September 22nd sees Rhythmatic present the Premiesku ‘Indirect’ album launch party.
The name, which suggests ‘premiere’ in their home country of Romania, represents everything the collaboration is about, a unique experience and a new concept that has swiftly gained recognition on the music scene, from well-known and respected industry professionals to educated party revelers. The digital environment is not enough to express what these three want tell, with their diverse mix of inspirations, ideas and moods, Premiesku have pushed aside the virtual world and done something very rare. Designing three special analog consoles, this innovative setup has launched them into an era of analog sound.
Witness first hand Livio, Roby and George play entire sets, without computers and using tailor made hardware racks, an unmissable experience. Their live sets have excited crowds from festivals to Ibiza, with successful appearances at the likes of ENTER, Cocoon, Music On and Space. Expect to hear a sophisticated blend of classic deep house, Detroit techno and tech house, as they showcase the upcoming debut album, ‘Indirect’ due for release on Desolat in September. The trio’s dynamic compositions have already been picked up by influential labels such as, Cecile, All Inn and Desolat.
The September event also welcomes back two truly missed residents, Stathis Lazarides and Wesley Razzy. Stathis, having spent the summer playing next to huge names such as, Ricardo Villalobos, returns to his London home at Rhythmatic. After spending the last few months on the White Isle, Wesley brings his new wealth of experience, inspiration and soul from the techno and house music mecca, back to one of the original boundary pushing parties to resonate from the capital.
Rhythmatic are very excited to celebrate adding yet another forward thinking act to their roster and look forward to seeing all the new and regular faces, as we finally draw closer to the next installment of Rhythmatic parties.
PREMIESKU
Romanian duo Livio & Roby, together with their pal George G, sometimes like to play with words, make anagrams or combine formulas. As a result of this game, they derived a name “Premiesku” for their mutual project, suggesting “premiere” which resonates as a Romanian name. That is what their collaboration is about – a unique new experience, which is already gaining accolades from many party heads, acclaimed music professionals and opinion leaders.
The name reflects the music: crossing of their diverse vibrant inspirations and moods breeds a new concept of genuine, recognizable sound. As a virtuoso audio engineers, they intelligently structure their (sometimes) heterogeneous ideas into powerful and dynamic compositions that catches the heart, the body and the mind of a listener. Compact “four to the floor” patterns, inspired with classic deep house, Detroit techno and tech house are switched up and deconstructed, resulting in a hypnotic brew. Driving and energetic solid grooves are fused with a plethora of colors and sonic twists, ranging from Balkan cultural heritage to surreal theatre. Their outstanding production has been released on influential labels such as Cecille, All In, Desolat.
During everyday studio sessions of experimenting and fitting the pieces of their imaginary worlds together, computers with straightforward and intuitive softwares are a necessary tool. But digital environment is not enough for expressing all those subtle feelings and stories they want to tell. Essential tools for this transmission are music instruments; they are vital for articulation of emotions, and sharing it with the audience. That is why Livio, Roby and George decided to leave the virtual world aside and create a real, analog environment for their live performances.
They did what no one did before – designed three special analog consoles consisted of parts of various machines. These hardware racks are tailor-made based on their draft, put together by an old fellow in a workshop in the heart of Romania. A inimitable gadget for each one of them is their vision of playing electronic music without computer. With this innovative setup, they have entered the era of their analog sound!
The concept is launched at Time Warp Lab in Mannheim on March 31 2012. Guys presented their machines at the workshop “Premiesku analog sound” organized by Desolat, explaining the new way of playing using the examples from their debut album “indirect” which will be released on Desolat in September.
Also, their fresh ideas are presented through their latest release – “Constant” EP released on Desolat in May.

Beatboxing genius Beardyman headlines Soundcrash at KOKO! The 2x times UK Beatboxing Champion’s live shows see the bearded one create music live in front of the audience with the help of his mouth and a enviable collection of gadgetry that would make any music geek drool. Expect plenty of audience participation, quality tunes, and if we’re lucky we may even get to play drum’n’bass musical statues. Hobnobs will be confiscated upon entry.
Beardyman has come a long way since winning the UK beatbox championships TWICE in 2006 & 2007 (in 2008 he was the judge) and since his internet viral Kitchen Diaries was shown on the Ellen Degeneres show in the USA in 2007 it has now accumulated over 5 million plays across YouTube (with the total views of all of his clips in the high tens of millions) and his skills bagged him a headliner slot next to Katy Perry at the first ever YouTube LIVE concert, in 2008. She may have kissed a girl, but Beardyman created the buzz for the whole event and got to second base by helping YTL make history by receiving the most ever views online, ever, at one sitting.
Damn, and if that ain’t enough, Beardy’s live music mash-ups have graced the main stages at Sonar, Bestival, Lovebox, Snowbombing and Rise festivals and supported the likes of Groove Armada, Jazzy Jeff and the Beastie Boys. All this from a guy who wrote a symphony for his school orchestra aged TEN.
Beardyman – he may be sick but he’s full of sauce. Suck it up.

Its our birthday and we want to spoil ourselves rotten so we will be opening three rooms and filling them with a ridiculous selection of our favourite artists spanning from Omar S to Daniel Wang.
We will also be pushing on for an extra few hours so we can spread everyone out a bit more so you have plenty of time to spend in each room.
Its straight up vinyl-only house business in room 1 with a fist-pumping 4×4 workout from Bicep before a special back-to-back extended set from the Parisian ‘My Love Is Underground’ homeboys Brawther and Jeremy Underground. Omar S flies in from Detroit to take us into the early hours and beyond, this really will not be one to be missed. Tief resident John Malcolm Moore will be warming things up in room 1 with a bag of carefully dug out house cuts, this room is going to flow like a river!
Room 2 gives a firm nod to Berlin with a live set from Portable (aka Bodycode) whose live vocals add something very special to his perfectly engineered tracks.. This really will be a treat through Corsica’s renowned soundsystem. Mano Le Tough’s Panorama bar sets have been making waves and we cant wait to hear what he has up his sleeve for the birthday, after his set at Tief in November we have very high expectations. Tief boss Hesseltime will be teaming up with Medlar of Wolf Music for a special birthday set and
Trouble Vision main man Mr Solid Gold will be warming things up.
As its a special occasion we will be moving our spare funktion one soundsystem next door into the Columbian club, fitting it with a few disco balls and custom lighting and filling it with the campest party-starting disco around with sets from Daniel Wang, Hunee, Casino Times and Wolf Music label bosses Matt Neale and Stu Clark.
We have had to bump up ticket prices a little for obvious reasons but for this line up it is still an absolute steal and it will sell out so get them in early and we will see you there!

Martyn (3024)
Two Armadillos – Live (Two Armadillos / secretsundaze)
John Heckle (Mathematics)
Giles Smith (secretsundaze)
James Priestley (secretsundaze)
The final chapter in the secretsundaze summer season will take place on Sunday 30th September at Oval Space in the heart of East London. With the British weather as it has been for the last year and late September often dropping in temperature we have regularly hosted our last closing party in an indoor location just to be on the safe side, but always ensuring the spot has plenty of natural daylight to keep the original spirit of secretsundaze alive and kicking!
Joining us for this special occasion we have Martyn (3024), Two Armadillos – live (UK debut set), John Heckle (Mathematics) and of course our very own Giles Smith and James Priestley.
Martyn has taken the world by storm over the last few years with his unique strand of bass defying categorisation. Born and bred in Holland but now based in Washington DC, his original productions were released on Marcus Intalex’s Revolver:r imprint in 2007 and he soon went on to release on the cream of cutting edge dance labels such as the UK’s genre bending Hessle Audio and Bristol imprint Applepips before starting his own label 3024 in 2008. His music, like his DJ sets, are rooted in techno and house yet incorporating bass and dub elements and a strong focus on intricate detail. His most recent LP “Ghost People” takes his sound to new heights and we eagerly anticipate his debut secretsundaze set.
Second up we are very excited to announce the debut UK live set from Two Armadillos – our very own Giles Smith and partner Martin Dawson. Making music since 2006 with releases and remixes for Dessous, Balance Alliance, Tsuba & secretsundaze, as well as heavyweights such as Metalheadz heroes Commix and the voice of house music Robert Owens. They have upped the ante this year starting their own imprint, the self titled Two Armadillos, and releasing their debut LP “Golden Age Thinking” in 3 separate 12″s which have received praise from many of the most respected DJs and producers, including Nina Kraviz, Move D and Patrice Scott, who have all used tracks from this LP on recent podcasts.
Finally we are very proud to be championing John Heckle (Mathematics / Tabernacle), who has been praised by music bible FACT as the “new hope for those that like their house and techno music heady, psychedelic and raw”. At only 23 years of age, this talent hailing from Liverpool has got tongues in the know wagging from London to Leeds to Detroit and Chicago. Both his live sets, utilising all the classic drum machines and synths, and his 3 deck mixing have to be seen to be believed. He will be DJing for us and if his recent recorded set from our Off Sonar Party at La Terrrazza is anything to go by we are indeed in for a slick ride!
With residents Giles Smith and James Priestley also stepping up as always, the last summer supper looks set to be a special treat not to be missed.
