From a facebook group sharing classic tracks, memories, styling tips and love for garage music in all it’s forms Special Request launches it’s first ever event at East London’s Question Mark Bar.
From the sounds of ’88, through to Dream FM Allnighter territory, Garage Nation classics and the ever evolving sounds of FWD>> – if you’re feeling one of the UK’s most defining underground sounds, then there’s something here for everyone.
DJs on the night include Unknown to the Unknown’s production whizz Capracara, To The Bone’s very own Charlie Bennet, Hyponik’s Hypercook, plus residents TK and Semtek. Free before 11pm and only £3 after, with no work the following day – it’s a Special Request!

To mark our 8th year, we are releasing our first ever commercially available compilation mixed by musical head honcho and guiding light Geddes. Worth £10.99 in record stores, this will be our birthday gift to you, included free with current £20 tickets
To make the anniversary a special one this year we’ve ordered ourselves a bit of a treat in the form of Carl Craig’s 69 live show. Carl Craig’s 69 show came as part of the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of his Planet-E imprint last year. As 69, Carl Craig produced the first ever EP for Planet-E in 1991 – ‘4 Jazz Funk Classics’ – a release inspired from his love of the disturbing sound and vision of English avant-garde group, Throbbing Gristle and somewhat of a landmark. Further releases included iconic masterpieces ‘Sound on Sound’, the frenetic ‘Jam The Box’, the beautiful ‘Desire’, ‘Pungtang’ and an album from 69 – ‘The Sound Of Music’. Planet-E also released a limited edition 69 vinyl box-set in 2009, entitled ‘The Legendary Adventures Of A Filter King’. For our birthday, Carl Craig will perform Live a selection of the finest 69 classic releases, infused with masks, darkness and ‘retina popping’ visuals to stimulate all senses in a show that has only been performed on a few exclusive dates thus far.
Having announced herself onto the electronic music scene in 2010, Maya Jane Coles has had an unbelievable few years since earning 9th best DJ in the world in Resident Advisor’s 2011 top 100 DJ’s poll. With a procession of critically acclaimed releases over the past few years, Maya is a bright talent with more than a couple of strings to her bow. Riding pretty atop a wave of interest from all corners, mulletover are particularly pleased to have her along for the Easter celebrations.
Media-savvy-musical-maestro Gavin Herlihy turned his back on a successful journalism career, shipped himself off to Berlin and hammered out a series of top notch releases. Having unleashed the producer inside and switched professions fruitfully, this year sees him with forthcoming releases on Crosstown Rebels, Culprit and Leftroom, backed up by previous outings on scene leaders like Cocoon, Cadenza, Get Physical and Buzzin Fly.
Harry Agius, also known as Midland, is a producer that blends together all things house and techno and let’s the music decide its own identity. Being played by techno, house, funky and dubstep DJs, the sounds of Midland are deep, dystopic and demonstrative of all things dance. Hotflush acolyte and Man Make Music label head George FitzGerald completes the line-up. Back in June, he released a solid EP on Aus Music, Silhouette, and on December 5, Fitzgerald releases a new single, “Shackled”, on Hotflush. The title track made an appearance on Hotflush head Scuba’s excellent recent entry in the DJ-Kicks mix series.
With the massive success of their January Sale this year with Joy Orbison and Michael Mayer, a line up this diverse for the Birthday will further open up corners of mulletover’s ever burgeoning fanbase. Moving away from the ‘secret location’ trend of recent times mulletover have announced Pulse, situated a stones throw away from London’s river Thames in Southwark, to be the venue for this special event. You can read a bit more about why we chose Pulse for the job here: http://ymlp.com/zUnvPH

Drop the Lime, (born Luca Venezia in New York City) is an electronic producer and DJ and founder of dance label Trouble & Bass. With roots in breakcore music he changed his focus to more mainstream dance music, remixing tracks for Armand Van Helden, Little Boots, Robyn, Moby, Rex the Dog and Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip. Over the years, Venezia has created his own distinct twist on the Trouble & Bass sound and now combines his love of Rockabilly with his own take on bass-driven music.

Carl Cox London. Three immortal words which when combined cause mass hysteria unrivalled by any other DJ. Having sold out his hugely anticipated return to the Capital on Easter Thursday 5th April in less than two days, Carl has responded to the huge demand for tickets by adding another date at Electric Brixton on Good Friday 6th April.
An irrepressible force who continues to push the boundaries, Carl will bring together his two decades of experience for an incredible night under one roof. His extreme talent and hunger for new music continues to feed his unparalleled dedication to the scene. This will be showcased at ‘The Revolution’ where Carl will feature alongside some especially chosen guests; the leading names in house and techno and fellow pioneers of the scene.
On Good Friday Carl will be joined by one of the world’s most in demand DJs; Dyed Soundorom. The Spectral Sound, Freak n’Chic and Crosstown Rebels artist is a firm fixture at many of the planet’s hottest parties, most notably DC10 in Ibiza where Dyed plays every summer as part of his coveted Circo Loco residency. His incredible performances at the White Isle’s most infamous club have helped him build a huge fan base as reflected in his #24 position in Resident Advisor’s recent Top 100 DJ poll. As a DJ he brings a mix of style and enthusiasm to every gig and we are delighted to showcase him at Electric.
London – be prepared to have your breath taken away. The Revolution is coming…

Red Bull Music Academy returns to The Nest for the final instalment of the Bank Holiday programming. Presenting a soundscape journey from garage, grime and funky to dubstep and house, the RBMA team bring some of the most influential players within UK bass music to our basement disco.Ex-grime don and Deep Teknologi label boss, T Williams is without question one of the most exciting house/bass producers to come out of the UK in recent years. His ruffneck take on the classic 4×4 genre fully burst onto the scene in mid 2010 with the three track EP he released on Local Action (featuring the heavily played and remixed track, ‘Heartbeat’). Since then, he’s played alongside a variety of artists including James Zabiela, Ben Westbeech, Space Dimension Controller and Paul Woolford, laying testament to his cross-genre distinctiveness.
MJ Cole, forefather of the UKG sound and unapologetic lover of a bassline, joins T Williams. MJ Cole is known for his productions including the top ten hit “Crazy Love”, the albums “Sincere” and “Cut To The Chase” plus a Mercury nomination and MOBO Best Producer award. With a slew of low-end, clacky dance floor tracks recently uploaded to soundcloud under the header “2012”, MJ Cole’s studio efforts hint at some big releases this year. Awe at his impeccable song selection on Sunday 8th.
Seminal garage producer, Wookie, is joined by the original kids of grime, Elijah & Skilliam as well as glitchy LuckyMe affiliate, Nightwave.

Sticking to tradition, The Westbury welcomes the best hip-hop and electro DJs come to West London this Easter Sunday to play some of the biggest party tunes, old and new.
Coming to the Westbury this Easter Sunday is breakbeat legend Krafty Kuts. Effortlessly maintaining his status he acquired so long ago, he represents mash-ups in their truest forms. Inspired by hip-hop and electro sounds, Krafty Kuts stepped behind the decks and perfected the scratching and cutting which was to become the core of his sets. Eager to show these skills off, he’ll be heading to play at the Westbury this Easter Sunday.

A Bunch of Cuts pres. Exit Records – Aptitude with D Bridge, Dub Phizix, Calibre, Marcus Intalex, Consequence, Doc Scott, Klute, Jon Convex and more / 8th April /TBA – East London
2012 witnesses the A Bunch of Cuts collective flip the script once more; after stints at The Arches and Cable, ABoC is going Warehouse!
There’s a lot of ‘Secret East London’ Warehouse action in the capital right now, but no one has really brought the Beats and the Bass to one of these spaces – until now. It’s time for D&B to step into the arena and with the change of scenery, a change of format…
The ABoC parties this year will see one of the five residents curate the line-up each time. For the very first edition of these, the ever consistent D-Bridge presents something really rather special as his Exit Records label night ‘Aptitude’ takes centre stage. Alongside A Bunch of Cuts’ five resident DJs and three resident MCs, there’s a b2b session from Dub Phizix & Skeptical (authors of 2011’s breakout voodoo roller ‘Marka’), plus the dreadlocked Cylon warrior that is Loxy and straight outta Melbourne, Joe Seven – all members of the Exit stable.
The other major change accompanying the new format is the inclusion of a room two providing an alternative to the main room madness. D Bridge has invited his good friend Damon Drama (Instra:mental), now producing under the alias Jon Convex with a new imprint Convex Industries to match, to host the room. He’s sure to bring the warped Electro and Techno from his recent releases on his own label and Non Plus+. On top of that Alex Smoke presents his stunningly twisted ‘Wraetlic’ live show, as well as a live set from the master of the sparse and dark – Consequence. To top it all off D-Bridge will be playing a rare Jungle set.
The space itself benefits from a much warmer feel than most ‘Warehouse’ events as, unlike the majority of them (which are usually in Car Parks, often stark and industrial), our venue is actually a former warehouse where people had to work! And crucially, both rooms will be kitted out with a Funktion One system as installed by system scientists Sound Services. What more could you possibly ask for?
Full venue address details will be mailed out to ticket holders in due course. Please do not forget to bring details of the last four digits of the card the ticket was bought with. See you out East!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: This event is advance ticket only – there are only 700 tickets available online and once they are gone, they’re gone! All the London A Bunch of Cuts events so far have been sell outs taking place in 1000+ capacity venues (The Arches & Cable) with entry possible on the night, so please note that things are a little different this time round!

Above & Beyond
Sander van Doorn
Mat Zo
With Above & Beyond’s April 7th show at O2 Academy Brixton selling out in record time, the Anjunabeats trio have responded to huge demand from fans by adding a second Brixton date on Sunday 8th April to create a Group Therapy Easter Weekender.
Joining Jono, Paavo & Tony for the second London show will be two of the most pioneering forces in electronic music right now – Sander Van Doorn and Mat Zo.
Dutch maestro Sander Van Doorn arrives hot on the heels of his acclaimed second artist album “Elev11″. A producer that has long blurred the boundaries between trance, house and tech, Sander has consistently excelled as a trend-setter and has enjoyed recent hits such as “Drink To Get Drunk” and his collaboration with former Bloc Party frontman Kele – “What Did I Do”.
One of the hottest properties in dance music right now, the fast-rising Mat Zo is someone that needs little introduction. With crossover anthems like “Superman” and “Mozart” (with Arty) getting support from heavyweights like Axwell, Skrillex and, of course, Above & Beyond, the London based innovator is currently putting the finishing touches to his hotly anticipated debut artist album – some of which he will surely be road-testing at the show itself.

MusicMovesMySoul is proud to announce our first midweek party of 2012. Sticking to our aim of showcasing the freshest new sounds in UK bass we have once again put our ears to the ground to search out some of the most exciting young acts on the scene. On the decks we have:
Bobby Champs:
Recent Pictures Music recruit Bobby Champs has been making some serious noise in the electronic music scene of late. His dance floor centric, techno inspired EP Moonlight has been gathering heavy support from music critics and his professional peers alike with its breathless, in your face bass-lines and progression. As one of the rising stars of 2012 we are genuinely excited to have this guy taking the reins behind the decks, this is a set not to be missed!
http://www.picturesmusic.co.uk/releases/bobby-champs-moonlight
Crypt:
Essex based producer Crypt is one of the new guard of young bass producers currently shaking up the London Bass scene. His 2011 EP on GET SOME Records was one of our favourites of the year, showcasing the prolific beat merchant’s talents for catchy garage inspired hooks and deep basslines. We got him down to play at our last party and the guy absolutely tore the roof off the Rhythm Factory with a back to back set alongside Palace – playing some seriously heavy grime, dubstep and techno to an enraptured East London crowd. We couldn’t resist the opportunity to bring him back for another spin behind the decks.
Richard Aki:
Richard Aki is a young London based DJ who has been impressing recently with some super tight mixes at nights at Rhythm Factory, Egg and across London. His GET SOME mix released early last month highlighted the flawless mixing, tune selection and creativity that has been getting London dance floors pulsing regularly over the last year.
Finally, as usual our residents will be bashing out all the best bass on offer until 5am. This is a night not to be missed!

Still bouncing off the walls from our last event in Jan, we are back for our fourth installment at Rhythm Factory on Fri 20th April. Bringing together two undisputed titans of grime & UKG for rare performances alongside some of our favourite producers at the moment, we are unbelievably hyped to announce this lineup. Watch out for a special surprise we have up our sleeves too…

Plump DJs return to The Nest this April with their blend of bassy electro, hard-edged house and techno following a line of sold-out shows across the capital – this won’t be a party to sit out on. Joining them in taking over our basement disco is one of London’s finest electro-pop DJs: Starsmith. Back from taking the US by storm, the producer who’s worked with the likes of Katy Perry and Ellie Goulding promises to glue you to the dancefloor. Party-starters Slutty Fringe DJs and Plump DJs’ label-mates Submo have also been thrown into the mix. Showcasing their groove too in live sets on the bill are Belfast trio Not Squares and Birthday Sex (just as provocative as their name suggests).

The change of the seasons is bringing something new to London, the Apogee Presents launch night this April and we are starting as we mean to go on. With the infamous Louche hosting room 2, this is a movement that should not to be missed.
First on the bill we have Huxley. Born Michael Dodman, Huxley is a name you’re sure to hear more and more of after firmly cementing his place in the UK house scene this past two years. Raised on a diet of UK & US Garage, House and early rave music – Huxley has carved out a career with releases on Tsuba, Morris Audio, Fear Of Flying and Suara and remixes on labels such as Noir, Cecille and OFF. With forthcoming music on Hypercolour, OFF, Rebirth and his home label Tsuba there is a lot in store from Huxley across the board of the house spectrums.
Next we have Coat of Arms and if you haven’t heard of them, where have you been? A musical duo comprising of Birmingham / Bristol steel & brawn. Chris James & Eats Everything Or Eats Everything & Chris James (whichever way pleases aesthetically) have a mutual love of big bass, melodic chords and slick beats which created a soundclash with more fight than the Battle Of Hastings! “Is This Something” the boys debut record was put at position number 3 in Mixmag’s Top 10 Feature for August 2011. Get Physical’s Heidi has bigged the lads up in her Dj Mag column for September. Jamie Jones has featured “Is This Something” in his Live Essential Mix from Ibiza On Radio 1 this summer as well as his debut Fabric CD mix. It’s easy to see why these guys are starting to become hot property.
Before the runaway success of club hit ‘Criticize’ which exploded everywhere at the beginning of the year from Annie Mac’s Radio 1 show to being featured on Beats in Space Best of 2010 Maxxi Soundsystem (Sam Watts) had been DJing, putting on parties and working hard in his studio for a number of years in his home town of Brighton and Apogee are lucky enough to host him in London this spring. Currently working with Miami man of the moment Danny Daze on new material and London vocalist Royston there’s some really exciting new music about to drop.
2011 saw a meteoric rise to the forefront of the electronic music scene by Cera Alba. Recently he was signed up to Jamie Jones and Lee Foss’s iconic label Hot Creations and its sister label Hot Waves. He has his first vinyl EP ‘Can’t Let You Go’ due for release on exciting new label Illusion Recordings out soon. He also has EPs planned for release on Composite Records and Turquoise Blue as well as remixes on Digital Delight and Electronique. The past 6 months he has played with some of the biggest DJ’s in the world and in 2012 he will be playing for Apogee Presents.
While the rest of the Goottwood festival guys are adding the final acts to the 2012 lineup we have dragged their regal member that is eLdoko to support Apogee. Recently signed to What! What! records eLDOKO fuses the gaps between all things Jazz, Swing, Tech and House. Expect a number of releases throughout 2012 showcasing a new deeper, organic sound whilst still keeping true to the light hearted approach he has always taken.
Hosting room two are our good friends Louche. Like Apogee, Louche was created by music lovers, for music lovers. Louche started out as a small party amongst friends in 2007 and has since matured into one of the most influential parties in the UK.
Louche are kindly showcasing the one and only Adam Shelton. Continuing over the last twelve months to champion music that is true to itself, Adam Shelton has an unshakeable focus on quality underground house. His debut EP ‘Air Trax’, due in February 2011 on Air London, is part of a relentless effort to sketch out his own definition of authenticity. From sultry and atmospheric sounds to the acid-drenched and techy the EP embodies the energy of his current musical course. His work with sparring partner Subb_an brings a raw and retro-funk sound, which is clearly demonstrated on their joint EPs ‘It’s Time’ and ‘The Muzik’. Similarly, their edits under the S.A.S. moniker have increasingly found notoriety as the insider’s weapon of choice. ‘In The Candy Store’ has featured prominently on discerning dancefloors worldwide spun by Seth Troxler, Craig Richards, Heidi, Lee Burridge and Lee Curtiss amongst others. Meanwhile the early 90’s feel of ‘Give it to You’ perfectly demonstrates an insight into the US house-loving side of Adam’s taste.

JACKMASTER
ONEMAN

KODIAK
CLEAN BANDIT SOUNDSYSTEM
Numbers label manager, Glasgow party mogul and owner of one of the most far reaching techno, house, disco, bass, dubstep and garage record collections, Jackmaster is set to land at The Nest for a characteristically jaw-dropping DJ set. An alumnus of Red Bull’s famous Music Academy programme, Jackmaster’s stock has risen immeasurably in 2012 and his b2b sets alongside the likes of Joy Orbison and Oneman have gained iconic status.
Oneman can simply be described as an outstanding selector. Perfecting his craft after years of radio play, countless Standard Place raves and a water-tight allegiance with the Numbers collective, he’s famous for sending dance floors into a spin. We’re overly excited to welcome this generation’s EZ to the mix for some garage, house, hiphop, dubstep and soulful classics. Joined by the man behind Numbers’ latest EP release, Kodiak, whose irresistibly pitched vocals and skippy drums will give the dance floor the warm up it deserves, the 27th April is looking to be one of the best nights of music The Nest has ever seen.
Clean Bandit Soundsystem also debut at The Nest this week with their tropical tinged, softly spoken take on live electronica.
