Tawiah – Live
Ikonika
Benji B
Deviation returns on Wednesday 1st February for our first session of the year.
Continuing our residency at Concrete we’ve invited special guests Tawiah and Ikonika to kick start 2012.
Performing a very special PA, Tawiah will be jumping on the mic to not only showcase some of her new material but some of our favourite tracks which featured on her EP ‘In Jody’s Bedroom’. We’ve been supporing her from day one and we’re excited to invite her back to perform a very special show just for us! Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for her forthcoming album on Warner Records which includes the track ‘Run’ which you may have heard on the airwaves.
Alongside Tawiah, we’ve invited someone who we’ve had on our wish list for the past couple of years, Ikonika. The first lady of Hyperdub, boss of the Hum and Buzz label and an incredible producer in her own right, Ikonika will be taking us through some of the finest dancefloor cuts like only she can and hopefully one or two specials.
Benji B will be holding down the rest of the session with MC Judah supporting on the mic all night long.
See you on the dancefloor!
DEVIATION SESSION #49 – TAWIAH (LIVE PA), IKONIKA, BENJI B & MC JUDAH

Shlohmo
SALVA
KUTMAH
PATCHWORK PIRATES
Shlohmo is Henry Laufer, co-founder of the infamous Wedidit collective (alongside Jonwayne, Groundislava, RL Grime, Juj, D33J and Melonius Drunk) and prolific producer of wonderfully dog-eared, gently swinging thump-click hip-hop beats. His follow up to “Shlomoshun” – debut album proper “Bad Vibes” is steeped in LA’s rich electronic heritage and the depth and warmth of his productions (blessed with his own guitar and vocals) bely his 21 years. Featuring in various ‘Best Of 2011’ lists it’s an incredible hypercoloured, dream album. Shlohmo’s bootleg Burial remix was the most downloaded track of 2011 on XLR8R. His new EP “Vacation” is out on Feb 7th on Friends of Friends.
Salva is the mastermind of the West Coast’s foremost freaky bass collective Frite Nite – a crew featuring the exceptional talents of B. Bravo, Eprom, DJG, NastyNasty and Epcot. 2011 saw the low end technician step up to the international stage and stand shoulder to shoulder with his Frite Nite fam, dropping his debut longplayer – the synth-funk opus “Complex Housing” – and earning a spot at the Red Bull Music Academy in Madrid. Salva’s “Complex Housing” album and “Yellobone” EP also made it into a multitude of annual lists and his collaboration with EE fam B Bravo – “Obsession” was one of the standout funk club bangers of the year.
With Live Screen Printing by the HIT+RUN Crew.

Nicolas Jaar Live
Acid Pauli
Soul Keita
The “Don’t Break My Love” Tour heralds Nicolas Jaar’s return to London, this time with Acid Pauli and Soul Keita, at the legendary Camden Roundhouse. Having just been voted the no. 1 live act in the RA polls Nico has also appeared in Rough Trade’s end of year chart for the 2nd biggest album of 2011 as well as appearing no. 4 in Mojo’s electronica albums of the year. This appearance will also mark what will be the end of Nico’s Don’t Break My Love tour and his brand new live show.
Nico will be traveling to the U.K. for the first time since his three sold out summer nights at Fabric earlier this year. Soul Keita, who is making his U.K. debut, will accompany Nico along with Acid Pauli. 2011 has been a truly outstanding year for the youngster who is still only 21 years, though much further advanced in terms of artistry and wisdom. This year performance highlights have included Nuits Sonores, Sonar, Glastonbury, Roskilde, Montreux Jazz Festival, and Melt as well as an abundance of European festivals. What sees Jaar’s star rising even further is his own label Clown & Sunset, which has prospered and placed itself as a treasure trove of young and gifted artists from far-flung corners of the globe.
“Intelligent, intuitive and totally in-tune with the kind of off-kilter sonic tones and tempos which, combined, create a near perfect noise.”
i-D Magazine
February 2nd will be a showcase for Clown & Sunset – a music company and outlet for Jaar’s most intimate work as well as the debut of some of the more innovative multimedia works that will be released through Clown & Sunset’s parent company, CS Aesthetics (CSA). Since completing his debut album, Nico has devoted himself entirely to developing Clown & Sunset, bringing on the likes of Acid Pauli and cultivating his down-tempo, dark carnival aesthetic. The German musician and ex-Bar25 resident will be releasing his next album through Clown & Sunset.
Soul Keita, one of Clown & Sunset’s founding artists, comes to London to premier his new live set. The twenty-year-old Ethiopian musician and painter recently relocated to Paris from his hometown, Addis Ababa, where he is composing new music and developing visual art. Nico, Soul and Acid will be curating the Roundhouse on February 2nd on behalf of Clown & Sunset and CSA.
The converted industrial factory offers an even bigger stage for the team to expand their collaboration and culminate the European leg of the “Don’t Break My Love” tour. The Roundhouse is London’s oldest and most revered live music venue. Transformed from an old steam engine repair shed to a now legendary cultural venue, the evenings event will see the three youngsters stepping onto the same stage as the likes of Bob Dylan, David Bowie and Pink Floyd. As Nicolas Jaar continues to dominate the charts for 2011, the event is a set to be a shining light in the otherwise darker and cold month of February.

Phat Kat (Welcome to Detroit)
And DJs performing for free on the night in loving memory are…
Mr Scruff (Dilla breaks set)
Spin Doctor (The Doctor’s Orders)
Illum Sphere and Jonny Dub (Hoya Hoya)
Oscar Wildstyle and Wiggie Smalls (Juicy)
DJ A-UP and Agent J (In The Loop)
Mr E (Taste The Diff’rence)
For six years on the trot London’s No.1 Hip-Hop party promoters and thousands of dedicated fans have celebrated the life and work of the incredible James “J-Dilla” Yancey. After last year’s hugely successful inaugural Manchester event at The Deaf Institute, this year a dream team of DJs (all spinning for free) are joined on stage by a very special guest; Dilla’s mother, Maureen ‘Ma Dukes’ Yancey. For the first time we have one of Dilla’s close friends & collaborators in the shape of Detroit’s own Phat Kat to come and host proceedings and maybe even perform a couple of his Dilla produced classics. Having rocked for The Doctor’s Orders three times before we all know what to expect of the dynamic Ronnie Cash.
Standing alone as THE Hip-Hop event of the year it is hard to better it year on year but with refreshed line up of DJs and an extremely special guest lined up there is no doubt this is going to be another party to remember in a packed to capacity Ruby Lounge and as ever those wise enough to attend will have the chance to get their hands on another t-shirt designed exclusively for the event.
In his brief 32 years James Yancey otherwise known as Jay-Dee or J-Dilla, created a new sound for Hip-Hop that inspired beat smiths, MCs and music lovers around the globe. With an incredible line of production credits for De La Soul, Tribe Called Quest, Erykah Badu, The Pharcyde, Janet Jackson, Busta Rhymes, Common, D’Angelo, his own crew Slum Village and so many more it is little wonder that he has been described as a visionary, a genius & the quintessential producers’ producer by many of the most respected names in the game. The fact that both Pharell Williams & Kanye West name him as their major inspiration speaks volumes to the influence of his distinctive “Dilla sound”.
His own albums “Rough Draft” & “Donuts” on Stones Throw, “Welcome 2 Detroit” & “The Shining” on BBE Records alongside “Jay Loves Japan” and his work on his brother Illa-J’s album “Yancey Boys” stand out as masterpieces of modern music production and capture the imagination of producers, DJs & all music lovers across the world. A selection of his work has even been released in full orchestral form on the brilliant “Suite For Ma Dukes”.
Several of Manchester’s best loved DJs will be playing at the event, representing nights such as Hoya Hoya, In The Loop, Taste The Diff’rence and of course Juicy.
One of the UK’s most iconic and best loved DJs, Mr Scruff needs no introduction. He will be returning for another breaks set exploring the huge array of music sampled by Dilla, from obscure soul gems to rare English pyschedelic rock. His set last year was one of the highlights of the entire night, and is a must see for any open minded music lover.
Spin Doctor is firstly a massive fan of J-Dilla and as the driving force behind The Doctor’s Orders promotions and this annual event in memory of his favourite producer he has now been blessed with the honour of now being appointed as the European representative for the J-Dilla Foundation.
RBMA graduate Illum Sphere and Jonny Dub run seminal Manchester night Hoya Hoya, welcoming guests such as Kutmah, Mary-Ann Hobbs, Rustie and many others to the city. Both huge Dilla fans, their free flowing, eclectic sets nearly always include one or two Jay Dee classics.
Agent J and DJ A-UP will be representing the In The Loop crew, while Mr E holds it down for Taste The Diff’rence. The Juicy DJs Oscar Wildstyle and Wiggie Smalls will also be dropping a set.

Stacey Pullen (Cadenza, Desolat, Blackflag, Detroit)
Mikail
Oli Low
Stacey Pullen is an innovator from the second wave of Detroit techno, he grew up under the mentorship of Detroit’s legendary three: Derrick May, Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson. Since the early 90’s he has been playing high profile sets at clubs around the world, this guy’s touring schedule is unparalleled!
2012 sees Stacey still on the road, DJing and bringing his signature eclecticism to some lucky part of the planet. He plays regularly at the world’s top clubs and festivals, regularly tearing up dance floors at the likes of Panorama Bar, Blkmarket, Space, Fabric, as well as playing at Cadenza showcases and to huge crowds at festivals such as Sonar and BPM.
The lure of technological innovation has also brought Stacey back to the studio, making his own tracks and producing other artists (including Mirko Loko with whom Stacey released the landmark Deux Elements on Cadenza Records).
Pounding, rhythmic and a little dirty – Stacey’s style fits perfectly within the FunkyZeit ethos. Having experienced his sets at countless clubs and festivals we can guarantee you that this will be a night to remember.
We continue our residency at our beloved Crucifix Lane, as ever we will be armed with the most tuned of Funktion 1 soundsystems.
Tickets are available on RA. There will be a limited number of tickets on the door but, as we tend to sell out fast, we advise anyone without tickets to get down early.
2011 was an amazing year for us and we plan to continue in 2012 where we left off. We have confirmed most of our guests for the first half of the year and we can tell you now that we’re more than a little but excited – this will be BIG.

Lula Circus (Culprit)
Moustache Mamas (Helen)
Michael Wells (FourFour)
After a successful launch party on 25th November, made great by an amazing crowd spreading good vibes across the dancefloor, we return again to The Russian bar on 3rd February for our first party of 2012.
For this installment we invite Italian duo Lula Circus to don the decks – Born in 2008, Danilo and Sergio started the project with an air of anonymity, wanting to put the focus entirely on the sound – crisp, brilliant, hybrid, with house influences and cool grooves. As time progressed and demand increased the guys decided to come out from the shadows which has allowed us to get to know the real Lula Circus. We are extremely excited and pleased to bring this talented duo over to London to give you all the opportunity to experience these guys first hand.
We are also excited to reveal that Helen of Moustache Mamas will also be playing on the night. The Moustache Mamas embrace an ‘if it rocks the party, we will give it to you on a platter…so lap it up!’ attitude. These ladies of leg-kicking abandon mix it up with the best – serving Nu Disco, House & Cosmic Funk – if it has muscle, its on their decks.. Expect no less from Helen behind the decks at this party!
As before advance tickets will be available on Resident Advisor, and we will be running a guestlist – please send names to fourfourlondon@live.co.uk – Guaranteed entry is with ticket only.
Much Love

Roll up Roll up! Boys and Girls, freaks and friends and creatures of the funfair! London’s Half Baked and Berlin partners in crime Bar 25 come together for a one day joyride as HB Productions present…The Bar 25 Funfair of Mayhem! As most will know, Berlin’s infamous and now sadly closed Bar 25 was a source of musical adventure, afterhours magic and circus fantasy throughout its reign as the cities most surreal adult playground. A venue in tune with our own hearts here at Half Baked, we spent many days and night dancing our asses off and swinging from trees in its heyday! Keeping the circus spirit alive we invite you, our acrobats, clowns, magicians, fire jugglers, trapeze artists, lion tamers and tightrope walkers (eeer…kinda!) to experience the lost but not forgotten land of Bar 25 right here in London.
Presenting Kenny Larkin, we welcome an artist who is without question one of the words most premier leaders in Detroit techno. Tradition passed down to producer, DJ and remixer Kenny from visionaries such as Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins and Derrick May, Kenny Larkin flies the flag for the real Detroit vibe. A career dating back to 1989, Kenny Larkin was one of the first Detroit artists to make the cross over into a new sound and after spending his nights at The Shelter and The Music Institute, he met John Acquaviva and a very young Richie Hawtin just in time for Richie Hawtin’s very first record label Plus 8 – Kenny Larkin was Hawtin’s first ever signing. The 1990’s saw Kenny Larkin grow, develop and project his unique sound of dance music globally, with projects such as ‘Dark Comedy’ and Pod’ – and who can forget what was named as one of the most original techno albums to date ‘Azimuth’ on War Records. Winning numerous techno awards and continuing to release critically acclaimed EP’s and albums, Kenny Larkin has toured the world and back again, his precision, originality and ability to read the crowd never faltering. Boys and Girls, you are in for a treat as we present one of the world’s most respected performers…Kenny Larkin.
Joining Kenny is Matthew Styles, an English born but Berlin based comrade of the stand out artists of our scene. Having made his name in both London’s confined and intense club vibes and Berlin’s relaxed and vast atmospheres; Styles knows his clubs, crowds, systems and energy more than most, making his sets work each and every time. The son of a dj, Mathew Styles has been behind the decks for years and those who remember DigYourOwnRave at London’s Tbar (please tell me some of you are old enough to remember!!) will know Matthew Styles as its co-founder and DJ. His productions profuse labels such as Bpitch Control, Music For Freaks, Horizontal and Crosstown Rebels. Having spun at renowned clubs worldwide and listing Ramadamman, Theo Parrish and Skudge amongst a lengthy list of artists he enjoys to listen to, Matthew’s own dj style reflects his eclectic taste in dance music, crossing barriers and becoming an intriguing ride all of its own.
What Bar 25 Funfair of Mayhem would be complete without its head honcho, resident and club kid Danny Faber!? Danny Faber has been a respected member of the Berlin music scene for over a decade. Beginning by running his own illegal underground parties, it was during this time that he performed his never ending dj sets; working, refining and developing himself into the on-point, upbeat and skilled dj that he is today. Joining forces with like minded talents and renegades, Bar 25 was born – founded by Danny Faber and eventually making its name as the most influential after party club….enough said!
A day of surprises and performances…HB Event Productions invite you explore the blasting hordes of creatures, games, tricks and adventures…don your circus attire, your open minds and free your dancing feet…
The funfair is coming to London town…
Lots of Love… x

Inxec vs Droog
(Cocoon / Crosstown)
Catz N Dogz live
(Pets Recordings / Get Physical )
Noir
(Noir Music)
For our first installment this year we bring you a Noir Music showcase, with some of the finest producers and DJs around at the moment on the deep house and tech house scene. All the artists have upcoming remixes/original tracks coming up on the consistently excellent underground label, Noir Music, and the man himself, Noir, is flying in especially to join them on the decks.
We have a superb new warehouse down in London Fields confirmed. Expect a Function One soundsystem and all the usual trimmings of an epic party.
DROOG vs INXEC
With the LA-based Droog in town for our one London date, we are very excited to announce a debut, back-to-back London DJ set between Droog and the Berlin-based Inxec.
Both Inxec and Droog are great acts in their own right, but when they work together they’ve produced some pretty exceptional deep and tech-house tracks. Of recent note is their collaboration, the Westbound EP – 4 tracks of impeccably produced tech-house gems rightly described by Resident Advisor as one of the best EPs Crosstown put out in 2011.
Both acts are well respected DJs as well though, with Droog very recently mixing the latest Crosstown Rebels compilation album, Rebel Rave, and regularly playing alongside the likes of Seth Troxler, Jamie Jones etc at Avalon Hollywood (one of the biggest clubs in the US), as well as Space, Rex Club, Electric Pickle (Miami) and loads more. The Cocoon-signed Inxec is also well known for his Berlin-influenced DJ sets, regularly playing at Watergate Berlin, as well as his much lauded residency at Harry Klien in Munich, and all the top London clubs like Fabric.
Droog and Inxec are both hyped about playing for Potty Mouth, so expect something very special from them on the decks on 4th Feb!
CATZ N DOGZ live
Catz n Dogz have become a bit of a brand name recently on the tech-house and deep house scenes, with too many great releases and remixes to mention here. Tunes such as their remix of “Who’s Afraid of Detroit?”, and the ones from the “Chicken Affair EP”. They also released their 2nd album last year “Stars of Zoo”, which is a hybrid masterpiece that mingles the best elements of deep house, minimal techno, and disco. Their Claps II Dogz EP with Soul Clap was a well received release on Glass Table back in March as well.
Since their first record on Trenton in 2005 the guys have appeared on the brightest underground labels such as Trapez, Crosstown Rebels, Pokerflat, Boxer, Dirtybird, Leena and their own Channels Records. Currently they collaborate both with Mothership and Get Physical and have launched a new label PETS, with smash releases such as Entrance Song by Eats Everything.
They’ve been working hard on their live set recently, and are gonna bring a whole load of new material for their live show at Potty Mouth on 4th Feb. Can’t wait!
NOIR (Noir Music)
Next up is an absolute tastemaker on the deep and tech-house circuits, Noir. Noir is a Danish dj, producer, and owner of the forward thinking and consistently excellent underground record label, Noir Music.
Noir has the most downloaded deep house podcast on the net, the “Noir Recommends” series from his Noir Music Podcasts. His podcasts are wall to wall dancefloor bombs, and often feature a load of releases on his own label, Noir Music. Noir Music showcases some of the best new & established producers on the underground dance music scene such as Butch, Larse, Danny Daze, Den Ishu, Stimming, Subb-an, Gorge, Solomun, and loads more. The label is frequently at the top of theBeatport charts and is supported by some of the industries top tastemakers such as DJ T, Laurent Garnier, Joris Voorn, Loco Dice, Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox and Matt Tolfrey.
Noir is also a well respected producer though as well. Noir´s track “Around” has been smashing dancefloors across the globe since last summer, and was top of the Beatport charts for months. It was one of the top tunes of Sonar, Ibiza and ADE 2011, Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune in November, remains steady in the Beatport & Resident Advisor charts and is currently being rotated by virtually every influential DJ. Solomun and Subb-an´s standout remixes of Around took the track to new levels as well, resulting in a re-release on Defected planned in early 2012.
Check out Noir’s brilliant January mix here:

[moh-teef] launches on Sat 4th Feb, bringing artists such as Margaret Dygas, Kozo & Cezar Anthony Collins and Cadenza’s Alex Picone to the venue. The team behind [moh-teef] felt that there was a gap in London’s nightlife for a quality, underground weekly house night – and wanted to provide a party where house heads can drop by, regardless of who’s playing, and know they’ll be friendly faces and a great soundtrack. The ethos behind [moh-teef] is to provide an intimate, friendly vibe where residents are joined by one or two guests each week – with a mix of more established names alongside hot new talent.
[moh-teef] – A central theme, a recurring subject, or an idea, especially in musical, literary, or artistic work

Data Transmission started with the aim of being the best, most trustworthy and most eclectic site on the web for dance and electronic music. Four years later we’re still going strong, putting heart, body and soul into everything we do. February 2012 marks our anniversary at the forefront of dance and electronic music culture and we plan to mark the occasion in style.
In our 3rd year we went from our jam-packed boat party at Hideout Festival in Croatia with Aeroplane and Doorly to a roadblock at London’s XOYO with KiNK, Tale Of Us and M A N I K, to our first party of 2012 at The Big Chill House with xxxy, D/R/U/G/S, Disclosure and Error Operator, building a reputation for going bigger and better every time.
Raising the bar again was no easy task, but for this special occasion we’ll be pulling out all the stops with a headline set by one of the biggest breakthrough artists of 2011 and a personal favourite of everyone at DT – none other than T.Williams. Support comes from another great 2011 discovery, No Artificial Colours, along with the multifaceted Death on the Balcony. Backing them up will be Ben Gomori and Lawrence Daffurn representing Data Transmission on the decks.
T.Williams has become one of the most potent forces in underground British house music. An original member of the Black Ops crew, and then a highly respected garage producer and DJ, he’s recently drawn widespread praise for his rising Deep Teknologi imprint and his remix of Breach’s Fatherless, and receiving high marks all round for his storming Break Broke EP.
No Artificial Colours – AKA Ryan Ellis and Lewis Wright – are a new deep house crew who are making waves in the run up to 2012. Since their Welcome to The Jungle EP, they’ve played alongside Nick Curly, Lee Foss, MANIK, Subb-an, Jordan Peak and Russ Yallop, in venues up and down the UK and across Europe.
Death on the Balcony are a Leeds-based outfit whose eclectic style blends with a solid appreciation of non-electronic influences, creating a heady, alternative angle to their deep and far-reaching disco, house and tech. Expect anything and everything from this duo’s record bag.
Rising talent and Data Transmission Round-Up man Ben Gomori will be setting the tone for T.Williams and NAC, blending his usual deep, bass heavy, luscious house sound to expert aplomb. Lawrence Daffurn completes the line-up, to demonstrate why he’s one to watch for the future.
Join the Data Transmission crew on February 4th at Shoreditch’s East Village, and help us celebrate 4 glorious years in the game – while we continue to bring you the best in dance and electronica, each and every day.

Figure of Wax &
Ruff Snippets
For the third year in a row The Doctor’s Orders are bringing their J-Dilla Changed My Life party to the south coast. Having packed the same venue to capacity for the last two years in row this year is sure to carry on the trend now that we are joined by the J-Dilla Mum, Maureen ‘Ma Dukes’ Yancey, and have the incredible Phat Kat hosting.
The locals are still well represented though with The Doctor’s Orders own Spin Doctor manning the decks alongside Brighton’s finest Figure Of Wax and Ruff Snippets who will be treating us to a set of original breaks sampled by J-Dilla.

For the six years on the trot London’s No.1 Hip-Hop party promoters and thousands of dedicated fans have celebrated the life and work of the incredible James “J-Dilla” Yancey. This year a dream team of DJs (all spinning for free) are joined on stage by last year’s surprise guest, Dilla’s mother, Maureen ‘Ma Dukes’ Yancey.
Standing alone as THE Hip-Hop event of the year it is hard to better it year on year but with refreshed line up of DJs and an extremely special guest lined up there is no doubt this is going to be another party to remember in a packed to capacity Scala and as ever those wise enough to attend will have the chance to get their hands on another
t-shirt designed exclusively for the event.

As we strive to keep this annual event moving forward and something special we have refreshed the line up of DJs keeping with many of the same names that have rocked the event year on year but adding Kutmah, our host Phat Kat and a special surprise guest!
The Extended Players are the UK’s strongest Hip-Hop DJ dream team & will be represented on the night by Harry Love & Mr Thing. With a wealth of club, radio, production, mixtape & battle experience between them they are without a doubt the most versatile and well rounded team on the scene.
Spin Doctor is firstly a massive fan of J-Dilla and as the driving force behind The Doctor’s Orders promotions and this annual event in memory of his favourite producer he has now been blessed with the honour of now being appointed as the European representative for the J-Dilla Foundation.
One man who has enjoyed the privilege of working alongside and remixing beats for J-Dilla is Morgan Spacek. An incredible producer in his own right his sets for the last two years have raised the roof so expect more of the same tonight.
As a producer the influence of J-Dilla genius is apparent in Kidkanevil’s work that fuses the worlds of Jazz and Hip-Hop in modern soundscapes that are as lush as they are funky.
Kutmah joins us for the first time this year. With a sound clearly influenced by Dilla he jumped at the chance to get involved and is sure to tear the roof off.
DJ Lok who has never played a set without at least one J-Dilla beat slipped in somewhere. As a massive breaks collector he will be treating fans to a selection of the music that inspired the man that inspired so many!
Hosting room 2 this year we have two of the finest promotions to come through in recent years in the shape of Main Squeeze & Classic Material.

Gesaffelstein @ The Nest
FRIDAY 10TH FEBRUARY
‘Turbo 093’ was Gesaffelstein’s debut, and in turn, a harbinger for techno music. One of the best tunes the imprint have ever released, it spanned the last ten years of 4/4 flavours like a techno pick ‘n’ mix, matching flawlessly carved sound spheres with bewildering breakdowns and hooks to boot. Joining forces with Brodinski this month to form the Bromance label, Gesaffelstein is set to blow up in 2012.
He will be joined by experimental techno artist Matt Walsh whose hard edged electro/techno sounds have sent The Nest into a spin on many an occasion.

After their last sellout party in November, the Plump DJs are back with another stellar line-up to bring the buzz back to their favourite Shoreditch venue. Celebrating the release of their first ever label mix album on the night, Grand Hotel Records presents Dirty Weekend, the Plumps duo will be bringing the same bassy electro clangers and hard-edged house and techno we now know them for.
Famous for DJing alongside the likes of Cassius, Rusko, Justice, Erol Alkan and Layo & Bushwacka, Italian DJ collective Reset! join the Plumps on 11th as lead support. Next in line is Burns, an artist whose stock is set to rise immeasurably in 2012 with his unique strain of dance floor focused electro. Moda label boss come tech tinged electronic producer, Tom Staar, also joins the bill alongside Grand Hotel homie Submo. And while the main room’s bursting at the seams with leg shakers, ravers can gain some respite in Room 2 where renowned party promoters Whiskey Tears take to the 1s and 2s.

The last Reggae Roast session at Plan B on November 16th was a complete road block. Mungo’s Hi Fi, RSD and Onlyjoe among others played incredible sets to a full capacity club, bursting with energy and earthquake-style bass lines.
This second Jamdown event will demonstrate the vitality and rich heritage of the UK roots and dubstep scenes with a DJ set from the godfather of sound system culture, a live performance from the mighty Shanti-ites band, plus live PAs and DJ sets from the likes of Earl 16 and Crises of Rinse FM. British dub, reggae and dubstep of the highest caliber!
Headlining the event is one of the most well respect sound system operators in the world; Aba Shanti-I. Brother of Aba Shanti-i; Blood Shanti and his 6 piece, all-star band; The Shanti-ites will be performing a special 45-min set, playing classic tracks from the Falasha Recordings catalogue including dancehall killers; ‘Tear Down Babylon’ & ‘Love In The Ghetto’. Earl 16, will then take to the stage to perform a 30-min live PA. His show will feature a selection of classic jems, dating back to his Studio 1 days in Jamaica alongside new recordings and unreleased dubplates. Rounding things off on the night be will DJ Crises. Over the passed few years Crises has become one of the most reliable sources of the deeper side of dubstep.

Public House feat. John Osborn (TANSTAAFL, JackOff)
Saturday February 11th
Secret Location TBA
2012 is a new year and we are back with our most exciting party yet, we have pulled out all the stops. We have found a never before utilised space which is mind blowing, sunk beneath the basement of a former biscuit factory, it will mean we can push the custom Funktion 1 rig we are having fitted to the limits. So the scene is set, now who can do justice to this impressive setting?
Well, we wanted to give something really special back to you guys for supporting us through a somewhat turbulent 2011. We have a London debut from a man we have long admired, in fact we were very surprised this is his first time to London. We are really honoured to bring you, for the first time ever, John Osborn. 2011 has been a real breakthrough year for John and we are so happy to have one of techno’s hottest talents. Growing up in London, techno was always his passion, cutting his teeth at Andrew Weatherall’s Sabresonic nights at Happy Jax. Residing in Berlin since 1999, he has been DJing for 15 years and has crafted a deep dubby style which has been turning heads and shaking asses. From his well documented sets at Berlin’s Panorama Bar to exquisite mixes for Get The Curse, mmnmlssgs and Little White Earbuds, the world is waking up with his unique sound ringing in their ears. In a time when artists rely heavily productions to steer their DJ careers, the power, groove and intensity of John’s set have allowed him to have won over the masses without releasing a million records. Only recently John launched his new label TANSTAAFL together with partner October. The first ever Bristol & Berlin based record label, showcasing each city’s rich musical heritage. With a few projects in the pipeline, maybe know the time is right to drop his sound on the world. Already the label’s first release has given John a underground smash with ‘Epoch4′ bouncing of the walls in clubs all over the world. Needless to say we can’t wait to have him join the PH family.
The venue is very, very intimate as always and has never been used for a party before, we will be sparing no expense with the sound at this one, and we expect this venue to really take your breath away. Due to the huge volume of guestlist requests we have decided that we are only going to sell tickets due to the capacity being so tight. You can buy £7 tickets on RA and we will reserve a VERY limited number of £10 on the door. The location will be announced the day before the event. Please don’t hesitate to get your tickets in early as we will not be selling a second release or increasing the capacity as we want to insure the party is inline with our ethos. Small space, big sound.
This is set to be our most raucous event ever. Don’t miss your chance to give your opera shoes the wildest outing yet.

After a great run in 2011, Connected are back with more grand designs in 2012… kicking off their winter season will be Waifs & Strays, Krankbrothers, No Artificial Colours Jesse James & Johnny Bloomfield and many more.
Waifs & Strays’ ‘Body Shiver’ was the rousing, strident electro tinged house cut that really set Jamie Jones’ fabric mix alight last year. The Bristol’s pair’s bold bass notes and warm, late night neon tones also came on Hot Creations in 2011, and were imbued with some sharp sampling that really set them apart from the crowd. As DJs they run the gamut of styles so Connected will be pleased to have them.
Danny Clancy and Kieran Clancy are the founders, organisers and resident DJs at krankbrother. Evolving from a private party in Corsica Studios, the last couple of years have seen them develop krankbrother into one of the most cutting edge parties in the capital, as well as now being an equally exciting DJ duo of the same name.
Also playing this party will be fresh faced duo No Artificial Colours who have been heard on London’s underground circuit for the past few years, playing a soulful blend of house at clubs like Ministry Of Sound, Koko, Egg and Cable, and festivals including Glastonbury and SW4, whilst UK stars Jesse James & Johnny Bloomfield will also get in on the action.
The second room, meanwhile, will be hosted by Reverb with Strictly Rhythm’s James Jackson as well as many more assured young guns, meaning their will be two rooms of quality house music at this party for 8 blissful hours… see you there.

After an extended Christmas break we kick off 2012 with a bang back at the Rhythm Factory. Topping the bill is Bok Bok, co-founder of the Night Slugs imprint which has been influential in shaping our tastes since its inception. His show on Rinse, often back to back with L-vis 1990 or another member of the Night Slugs family, is also pretty much our favourite show on the station, where Alex’s blend of old school house, grime and whatever you call the bass heavy music coming out of London now encapsulates the mood of the city perfectly.
2011 was a big year for him with both a solo ep on his own label as well as the excellent collaborative effort with another artist we admire (Tom Trago) and we are happy to have him finally play. Check out a track from their Night Voyage Tool Kit ep: http://bit.ly/AgBKHM
Alongside Bok Bok will be our residents Ill Blu, the South West London duo who were one of the frontrunners of the Uk Funky scene along side producers like Roska and Funkystepz. Looking to build upon the success of last year’s releases on Hyperdub and Numbers, which reached many critics’ end of year charts, they have
been locked in the studio for some months now. Expect some very exciting material from them soon on labels we can’t talk about, but in the meantime check out their recent mix for Bridging the Gap: http://bit.ly/ulVJll
Warming up proceedings will be Hessle Audio’s Elgato. Though he doesn’t have many releases to his name, with just a single ep and complication track to date, the quality of his production is outstanding and 2010’s Blue is still one of our favourite tracks the label has released. Listen here: http://bit.ly/yhcwRM
This time sound tracking our back room will be our old friends from Juno Plus – a London based online editorial hub affiliated with Juno Records and Juno Download focusing on championing the best music that enters the doors of Juno HQ every week: http://bit.ly/Ajs6nU It’s one of the first places we go when we want to discover some new music or look for inspiration, so expect the freshest of the fresh combined with a few cheeky white labels and those underrated B sides all night long.

Roost returns for February 2012 with a lineup which we have wanted to pull together for quite sometime.
We roll into 7-9 Crucific Lane, which was chosen specifically for this event as the atmosphere of the tunnels are going suit the sounds perfectly. In addition the newly installed Funktion One system is superb!
Line Up
Paul Woolford (Cocoon, We love!, Intimacy, Hotflush, Planet E)
Very happy to announce that Paul Woolford returns to play for us again!.
After yet another huge year for Paul which has included releases on the legendary Planet E, Phonica Records and releases on his own label Intemacy. Towards the end of 2011 he once again stepped up to the forfront of forward thinking house and techno with “Stolen” released on Hotflush.
“Stolen” produced alongside Psycatron, demonstrates Pauls ability to merge house, bass and techno effortlessly, once again the track is scarred with his signature style of shuffling tom rolls which we all know and love!!.
Following yet another successful summer at Space Ibiza where arguably he brings the most upfront and class house and techno to the terrace. He recently dropped into london town and played at the boiler room, and took the roof off, dropping bombs a plenty including personal edits, upcoming Midland tracks.
Paul is personally looking forward to this party and is infused about the booking alongside Boddika, the venue is perfect and the sound system is mighty so lets get cracking!
Paul Woolford Soundcloud
Paul Woolford Facebook
Paul Woolford Twitter
Boddika (non plus+, SWAMP81)
Boddika’s sounds are shaking the scene to its very core, slamming down with a raw take on things that’s making all journalists scramble for the right genre tag. Is it electro? Techno? Old? New? Harking the expansive sounds of Luke Vibert, the analogue programming of Juan Atkins early work, and the rawness of the Drexciya/Dopplereffekt family, Boddika is the newest project of Al Green, 1/2 of the boundary-pushing duo that’s re-written the rules completely, Instra:mental.
Every production be it his own tracks or collaborations come with Boddikas’ signature layers of full, analogue sounds that are as intense as they are immaculate. With almost juke-fuelled vocal chants, innovative drum patterns that morph and develop with each bar, and deep, mechanic stabs, there’s hardly any trace of the bass genres Green may be known for, but yet it doesn’t quite fit comfortably in any defined 4/4 box either. In short: it sounds like absolutely nothing else.
Al, runs the infamous non plus records which is going from strength to strength with a run of releases which include Kaseem Mosse, Lowtec, Actress, Skream, Jon Convex and d bridge. If you haven’t checked the label do so. Lowtec “cold red” has been dropped by Roost residents left right and centre!.
2012 is going to be an total smash for Boddika. Put Boddika and Joy O in a room and you are going to get pure dance floor music. Currently they have about 5 dubs which are being dropped by pretty much every known house, bass, techno dj out there. These include “Swims”, “Mercy”, “Dun Dun” and “Froth”….the list goes on
Fold!:
The man behind the Fold alias is Rob Glassett, also one half of the London-based deep house duo HomePark. This project sees him explore a faster tempo, experimenting with both house and garage sounds whilst retaining select elements of deep house. The quality of recent releases which include ‘Deployming’ displays the talent Fold’s has to offer. Rob joins us again to play at Roost following some of his recent gigs including Northern Purpose at LIFE alongside Joy O. Check some Fold! releases/fresh tracks here
Lawson:
Playing what is always an incredibly fresh selection of house, techno, bass and other forms electronic music, Lawson has gained a great following from his NTS Radio show. With recent appearances across some of London’s top venues, Lawson is most definitely one to watch!.
Last but no means least, roost residents James Wright & Tristan Grace will be bring their sounds to crucifix arch!

After another smashing NYE jolly up 385 feet above London at Paramount, that saw tickets sell out a week before the party, Wiggle is back with a bang for 2012 and delivers you lucky people with another stellar line up of pure gold to kick off our first one of the year nicely! We’re also extremely happy to have our one and only Eddie Richards, back with us after missing him on NYE while he toured Australia and had the Aussies Jumping around more mentally than a pack of manic Marsupials! Check out this new mix that Eddie did for the Space festival in Sydney ahead of his gig on new years day…. it’s an absolute cracker as per!

Gavin Herlihy
Gavin’s music has been a constant feature on underground house and techno’s most iconic labels for the last few years. Forthcoming releases on Visionquest, Crosstown Rebels, Culprit and Leftroom are backed up by previous outings on scene leaders like Cocoon, Cadenza, Get Physical and Buzzin Fly. As comfortable writing sublime deep house as he is at crafting no-nonsense future techno, few artists have achieved such a broad base of label support as this enigmatic Irishman.

Alex Arnout
Having started his DJ career in Spain, and in the humble surroundings of many a local bar, the nineties were spent learning the basic skills so often lacking in today’s break-through ‘DJs’. Eventually catching the ear of someone that mattered, Arnout began playing more familiar outposts like DC: 10 and Pin Up in Ibiza, Dance Valley in Amsterdam and Circo Loco in London. On top of that, his finely sequenced journeys through all things house have also won him a residency at London’s definitive Sunday session, Fuse, as well as gigs at the most revered of them all… fabric. Rob Pearson

With numerous solo tracks, collaborations and remixes under his belt releasing on well respected labels like Plastic City, Reverberations, Area38, Bombis, 3am Recordings & Swag Records along the way. Rob’s own imprints, Evasive Records, (Which has had over 30 vinyl releases) and sub variants Digital, Deep, Retro have all received constant support and plays from the top DJs in the House and Techno communities. Rob’s DJ sets have much variety, from deep, dark and twisted House to slick, seductive and groovy Techno. He is just as comfortable behind the decks as he is making records in his studio in South London (www.onlinestudios.co.uk). Rob has recently been working on collaborations with legendary vocalists Afrika Bambaataa, Robert Owens, and Rose Windross (Soul II Soul).

Midland (Aus / Phonica)
Dan Beaumont (Disco Bloodbath / DSS)
Zoo Look (Tenth Circle)

On Saturday the 18th of February, Corsica Studios invites you to the fourth edition of Tief with possibly our most fitting bookings to date.
Tief welcome house music connoisseur Prosumer to headline the bill with a 3 set. As well as running Berlins pronound record shop ‘Hard Wax’, Prosumer is resident at Berlin’s world class Panorama bar and releases under the heavyweight Ostgut Ton label. Experience a journey through the record collection of one of the most knowledgeable figures in house and techno
San Soda (one half of vocal house sensations FCL) offers strong support in room 1. San Soda has earned a reputation as one of the most consistent underground house producer/djs around. FCL played along side Motor City Drum Ensemble in October at Trouble Vision and span some amazing records, expect more of the same from San Soda as he gets into his stride warming the floor up before Prosumer.
Headlining room 2, Axel Boman flies in from hometown Stockholm to show us what he is all about, pushing a sound that has been described as ‘raw, playful and drenched with oceans of soul’. Axel’s artistic background may go some way to explaining the creative and experimental spin on house music that he has become so well known for. 2010 saw the breakthrough release ‘Purple Drank’ on DJ Koze’s highly regarded Pampa label and with a string of releases and remixes on labels such as Glasstable, Studio Barnhus and Play It Down, Axel really is one to watch. For a taste of Axels booty bouncing dj sets check out his acclaimed boiler room here; http://boilerroom.tv/axel-boman-50-min-mix/
Also with an individual take on house and techno, Midland plays room 2 along side Axel Boman. Midland has had an equally excitcing year. He made his debut in 2010 alongside Pearson Sound aka Ramadanman with their anthemic track “Your words matter”. The pair wove, defied and played with a number of genres and, in doing so, Midland laid a clear foundation stone for his vision of how electronic music could be; a sound that is rooted in House and Techno but with the rumbling low end of Dubstep and wide screen experimentation of classic Electronica. Subsequent solo releases on Phonica, Aus and More Music have gained him fans from all corners of the electronic music spectrum including Giles Peterson, Sasha, Mary Anne Hobbs, Joy Orbison and Dixon to name a few.
Warming things up in room 2 will be Dalston Superstore’s Dan Beaumont who will be giving us a taste of his new ‘Jam Factory’ project with a healthy dose of disco from his ‘Disco Bloodbath’ days.
Talented newcomers Zoo Look along with residents Hesseltime, Thick as thieves and John Malcolm Moore will be filling the gaps with their carefully selected house, disco and techno records.

Futureboogie DJs
2012 is Futureboogie’s 10th year in the land of the club. What originally started as a simple club night in good old Bristol town back in 2001, Futureboogie nows rolls with global radio shows, a booking agency, management company, a list of A-grade parties and worldwide DJ bookings as long as a long armed man, excursions into festival programming and, most recently their record label, Futureboogie Recordings.
Over the last 10 years the cast of the Futureboogie team has changed but original members and FUTUREBOOGIE DJs Joe90 and El Harvo are still holding things down, keeping all the plates spinning, and making things go bump in the night. They host the exclusive 10 year anniversary bash in the capital alongside an array of the very best talent the label has to offer.
Recent Essential Mix spinning wise-beyond-his-years Bristol house producer and DJ Mag nominated breakthrough DJ of the year JULIO BASHMORE fronts an all-star cast, which also features Hot Creations tag-team of the moment Amos Nelson and Rich Beanland aka WAIFS AND STRAYS, alongside fellow Bristol house producing duo CHRISTOPHE & LUKAS and rising stars BEHLING & SIMPSON. Expect the very finest in house and disco all night long, in one of East London’s most exciting warehouses. We’re 10 years young – and it’s our party so we’ll cry if we want to! We hope you can join us for what promises to be a very special night in the capital.
February also sees the release of Futureboogie Recordings CD compilation. Aptly titled ‘Ten’ it will include 10 exclusive tracks from some of the label’s finest, and a nod to some of the label’s future finest, with cuts from the likes of Eats Everything, Lukas, Julio Bashmore, Waifs and Strays, Type Sun, Christophe and Crackazat. And because we are so good to you, the first 50 tickets sold will be bagging themselves a free copy of it on arrival at the party. Niceness!

After selling out their Halloween bash last year, Soltek return at the end of February to dust away those winter blues and kick off the new year in style with a typically exciting and diverse lineup. Topping the bill in exemplary fashion Soltek have opted for Tighten Up head honcho and DirtyBird Records favourite, the man behind 2011’s massive single “Falsehood”, A1 Bassline.
He’ll be joined by Bristolian bass cadet and arguably one of electronic music’s most innovative and flourishing labels, Hotflush Recordings’ very own Arkist. Support will come from residents Daffadam and Medlam in the form of a rare back to back set alongside fellow regular Jdan, with the bill being rounded up by special guest Jarvey.

ALL THOSE WHO REGISTER WILL BE SENT AN EXCLUSIVE PETE TONG MIX FOR FREE!
Hosted at Village Underground – one of East London’s premiere warehouse spaces, All Gone Pete Tong will present an intimate evening of cutting edge underground electronic music on Saturday 25th February. Representing a revolutionary chapter in Pete’s illustrious career, All Gone Pete Tong makes its long awaited debut in the Capital, following a dream inaugural season at Pacha Ibiza. Now via a sold out party at Bristol’s Motion in November, it’s London’s turn for a taste.
Tong is the world’s undisputed ambassador for electronic dance music, and true to form he has selected a line-up that’s in keeping with his insatiable appetite for the freshest talent.
Eats Everything certainly fits the brief! The rise and rise of Eats over recent months has seen a plethora of impressive releases, most notably ‘Entrance Song’, and his Essential Mix on Radio 1 in November was deservedly nominated for the coveted ‘Essential Mix of The Year.’ Signed to Claude Von Stroke’s acclaimed Dirtybird label, and affirming his status as one of THE breakthrough acts of 2011, his chunky full on basslines are now a mainstay in the likes of Jamie Jones and Maya Jane Coles’ record boxes. Voted ‘Best New Producer’ in the DJ Mag ‘Best Of British’ awards, Eats Everything is guaranteed to leave you hungry for more.
Next up Bill Patrick, A&R manager for Guy Gerber’s ‘Supplement Facts’ imprint which has revitalised the electronic scene. Known for a trippy take on affairs, this unsung hero boasts Seth Troxler’s esteemed Visionquest collective amongst his biggest fans. Having the vision not to adopt the status quo, Bill utilises both analogue and digital – a rare skill in today’s technological age. Combining tech house bleeps, pulsating techno riffs and psychedelic undertones equates to a magical experience. With previous gigs at DC10 and Fabric regarded as stuff of legend, it’s no wonder Bill has amassed a dedicated global following.
Last but not least the savvy pairing Blond:Ish. Refusing to be pigeon holed by any genre, this duo posses a raw technical ability and infectious exuberance. Expect a musical prophecy that’s guaranteed to shake Shoreditch to the core. Spring loaded basslines infused with deviant synths, haunting vocals and dreamy percussion. A recent sell-out tour of North America and Canada, and upcoming releases on Kompakt, Noir & Get Physical, proves this eclectic outlook is high in demand. And as those who witnessed their phenomenal set at last year’s Burning Man with testify, Blond:ish know how to rock a party.
Not forgetting Pete Tong himself. Last year saw just two exclusive London shows from Pete, a main stage outing at South West Four in front of thousands of devotees was followed by a rocking headline slot at Alexandra Palace’s showpiece Together Winter Music Festival. All Gone Pete Tong, the first date of a soon to be announced national tour to support a forthcoming compilation (with a very special guest also to be announced soon), will be a rare London opportunity to see Pete doing what he does best – playing the finest underground electronic music and promises to be an intense new chapter to East London’s rich clubbing history.
Pre-sale tickets to the event will be available to purchase on Tuesday 31st January at 9am with priority given to all those who register at www.allgonepetetong.com. Sign up today and you will also be sent a free Pete Tong mix, recorded live at The Warehouse Project, Manchester. All remaining tickets will go on general sale on Wednesday 1st February.

On Saturday 25th February 2012 a very special Poker Flat showcase is to happen in London for the very first time. It will feature a carefully curated selection of label associates old and new, and the bespoke venue is to be a secret warehouse space where joining label boss Steve Bug, will be Ovum chief Josh Wink and 2011 star M A N I K, as well as Martin Landsky, Daniel Dexter and Burnski, plus more to be confirmed.
Poker Flat is the deep house and tech label run by DJ, producer and A&R maestro Steve Bug since 1999. Amongst its illustrious back catalogue are genre defining hits like ‘Loverboy’ and ’1000 Miles’, peerless compilations by the likes of Argy and Märtini Brös, full lengths from the boss himself plus the likes of Trentemoller and Donnacha Costello and as well as the usual string of excellent 12” and EP releases from established names and new young blood alike. The label is a pillar of the modern scene and so a showcase such as this in the English capital is long overdue…
Josh Wink, boss of Ovum Records, tops the bill behind Steve Bug and needs little hype given his countless acid, techno and house hits over the past few decades. One of the stars he’s discovered himself in recent times is M A N I K. This NYC virtuoso has a great musicality running through his sultry house and snaking tech releases on Poker Flat, Hot Creations and of course Ovum (for whom he also released a full length this year) whilst one of Bug’s oldest partners in crime, Martin Landsky – known for his peerless production finesse – also gets in on the action.
Another fast rising talent is Chicago house and Detroit techno derived producer, DJ and label boss Daniel Dexter, whilst Berlin based Brit Burnski has a long association with Poker Flat thanks to his deep and tidy productions for the label in recent years.
This secret warehouse venue is perfectly suited to a proper Poker Flat party of this sort – with dynamite sound, killer production and the extra attention to detail you’d expect of a label with as long and esteemed a history as this.
The show also ties in with release of the label’s latest double compilation album ‘Poker Flat Volume 9 – Gunslingers and Greenhorns’, which is due for release on Monday February 20th. Limited early bird tickets are available now from RA and look out on the night for details of the next upcoming Poker Flat showcases in London and beyond….
