The Nest presents Rustie + Melé
Friday 13th January
With arguably the most progressive and exciting debut album of the year, Rustie’s demonic strain of neon bright, irresistibly rich synth work and hip hop hulk has been sending dance floors into a spin over the past 6 months. The limelight shy Glaswegian makes up for his coyness in each and every DJ set with an in-your-face glimpse into his computer game fantasies and rnb soundtracked dreamscapes. Rustie is joined by 2011’s most exuberant selector, Melé, an artist whose interesting take on the UK’s genre blending bass trend sees him mix jungle, dubstep, house, hip hop and grime in one seamlessly skilful swoop. Stripes and Toy C are two hotly tipped artists for the New Year and their garage inflected, bass focused house music has seen recent releases on Body Work and Mimm Records respectively.
Live support comes in the form of pop encased dubstep outfit (with killer female vocals) Tricity and the lady behind the beautiful vocals on a collection of Falty DL, Starkey and Ital Tek productions, Anneka.

Making music that charms a warped early morning dance floor is relatively easy if you know how – doing that whilst retaining musical elegance and expertise however, is something quite different. Producer and Live artist James What appears to have mastered the two, and his Live Shows, projects with Dan Berkson and continuous stream of highly lauded releases play testament.
James What laid routes in London in 1999 to study music and sound engineering, he has since gone on to make and release his solo, moniker and collaborative music on some of the industry’s most recognized labels such as Pokerflat, Crosstown Rebels, Murmur and Dessous.
In 2006 James joined forces with fellow producer Dan Berkson; a partnership that has since propelled the two to new musical levels. Debuting at Sonar in 2006 Dan Berkson and James What continue to perform their captivating Live sets around the world; casting light on their solid yet emotive and improvised soundscapes.
Continually progressing and evolving as an artist, James currently divides his time between an international gig schedule, solo and collaborative production and touring with Dan Berkson. James’s recent ‘About Love’ ep on Crosstown Rebels met rave reviews and regularly penetrates the ever beating depths of the scenes night life. His unique sound sits within a mix of raw classic house and the shrewd darkness of gruff minimal and techno; complimenting their counterparts and flitting effortlessly between the three. Based in London and working worldwide, James What is playing the balance game with a winning streak; stripped down, head strong dance music that effortlessly retains sensual warmth and timeless elegance.
