CHEAP THRILLS LEMONADE TAKEOVER
HERVÉ / RESET! / C.R.S.T. / BAXTA / WHITE ARROWS (LIVE)
Since its inauguration in October 2010, The Nest’s basement club space has played host to some of the biggest names in forward thinking electronica. From Erol Alkan and Simian Mobile Disco to Todd Terje, Aeroplane and Julio Bashmore, The Nest’s consistency of huge line-ups at reasonable prices has led to its positioning as a bastion for credible dance music in East London. With one year of amazing electronic artists, sell out parties and trend setting concerts, it only seems right to put together an amazing bill of talent on 30th September and 1st October to celebrate the club’s 1st anniversary.
The Saturday event sees our weekly electro/indie/disco Lemonade party taken over by Hervé’s Cheap Thrills imprint. Arguably the biggest line-up Lemonade has seen all year, we welcome longstanding Nest friend, producer/songwriter/DJ Hervé to headline proceedings. Famously intent on championing new, young talent, Hervé has put together a wide-spanning bill of exactly who we should be watching towards the end of 2011.
He will be joined by the club funk and house focused talent of Reset!, whose releases on Cassius Records and Cheap Thrills have blown critics’ minds and whose stock shows no signs of slowing down this year. Nest first timers, C.R.S.T., are also on board to bring the hardnosed Birthday bass. The four, South Wales based producers whose influences bridge garage, house, hiphop and drum and bass are known for their genre spanning sets and low end, drum machine-heavy bass productions. With support from Cheap Thrills’ brainchild, Baxta, and LA based electro pop band White Arrows, we’ll be rolling into The Nest’s second year with a bang.

Our guest in room two is Hessle Audio co-founder and Rinse FM star Ben UFO – a DJ’s DJ whose quick, precise, effortless transitions from house to garage to dubstep to techno to anything else he feels like playing have earned him a reputation that’s quickly and deservedly spread way beyond the bass scene Hessle have done so much to change.

Joe And Will Ask
With special guest – Boy 8 Bit
Sparing an overflow of the predictable 1 year old birthday babble we thought we’d keep it short. A birthday edition of Vikings, with Joe And Will Ask and Boy 8 Bit, plus a whole load of birthday surprises, is going to be madness.
Joe And Will Ask on Boy 8 bit:
We thought the most fitting way to celebrate would be to invite back our favourite guest so far, our favourite long-haired melodic techno warrior, Boy 8-Bit! With an extended set from ourselves (might even drop some bits from our new album!) and resident John Green who is climbing the ranks scarily fast.
Now, we don’t want to give away too much, but the we have arranged something special that will make you feel like you felt the first time you sipped your first Hooch in your first super-club, and shouted ‘CLUBBING!!!!!!’
Only you won’t be listening to castles in the sky….sorry!

On Saturday 26th November, Lock N Load Events present the Together Winter Music Festival at London’s legendary Alexandra Palace. Featuring thirty huge acts across four massive stages, this major indoor festival will be the biggest all-night party taking place in the UK this year!
Eric Prydz headlines, performing his final EPIC show of 2011 and bringing with him the best parts of his mind-blowing Brixton Academy and Global Gathering shows witnessed earlier this year. John Digweed will also play a significant part at the Together Winter Music Festival. His sell out Bedrock event at O₂ Academy Brixton last year stood him toe to toe with the world’s biggest acts and proved that he remains a much respected and loved DJ. As a true legend of dance music we’re delighted to welcome Pete Tong to The Great Hall. 2011 has been one of Pete’s busiest years to date, having recently celebrated the 20th Anniversary of his BBC Radio 1 show. Recognised by Mixmag as the heir to The Chemical Brothers throne, Simian Mobile Disco are one of the world’s most successful electronic acts, widely known for their stunning shows. With a tour diary that sees the superstar play to more than a million fans each year, there’s no doubt that Sander van Doorn is one of dance music’s favourite sons. Sander will show exactly why he has blasted himself to the top with a main stage performance at Alexandra Palace. Completing the lineup for The Great Hall will be one of France’s greatest exports Sébastien Leger, the brilliant Chris Lake and an artist championed by Eric Prydz as ’the next big thing’, Jeremy Olander.
Death in Vegas are one of the most exciting and unique bands to ever emerge from the UK dance scene. Performing a full live set with Richard Fearless on vocal duties, Death in Vegas join the outstanding lineup showcased in The West Hall. This includes the mighty Vitalic who is expected to deliver a live set that is certain to knock everyone for six. His blistering, claustrophobically compressed production, beautifully brutal beats and madly addictive tunes will show just why he is recognised as a leading pioneer and innovator. He will be joined by one of the most talked-about remixers and producers in electronic music, the mysterious Fake Blood and one of the most thrilling new names in house and techno Maya Jane Coles. UK quartet Fenech Soler will play a very special full live set, having seen their popularity rise hugely over the past two years through productions such as ‘Lies’ and ‘Stop and Stare’. One of the creators of the Ed Banger sound, SebastiAn has managed, in the space of a few years, help redefine electronic music. We are delighted to welcome him to the Together Winter Festival this November for an exclusive live performance. Alex Metric will also deliver a real treat of a set on the West Hall stage alongside three of the UK’s hottest emerging producers; Grum, Russ Chimes and Starsmith.
In the DJ Magazine arena hosted by Bootleg Social John Dahlback headlines. John is further testament to the theory that there must be something in Sweden’s water supply when it comes to producing outstanding DJs and producers. He is joined by the impressive Mark Fanciulli, who has notched up an excellent reputation in recent months following key releases on Joris Voorn’s Rejected and Josh Wink’s Ovum labels.
In arena 4 strap on a pair of headphones and prepare to be immersed in two worlds of sound as Data Transmission present ‘A Headphone Disco’. We have lined up a genre-melting selection of acts playing back to back over two audio channels of musical greatness. Once you have been given your wireless headphones you will have no excuse but to choose a channel and join in the fun! Artists playing the arena include The Glimmers, Utah Saints, Thomas Gandey, Reset! Burns, Monarchy (DJ Set), Mighty Mouse, Cosmonauts, Phonat, Ruben & RA plus Data Transmission’s very own resident spinsters.

Friday 14th October welcomes the sounds of funky and grime to The Nest’s basement dancefloor. With a seven strong line-up of producers and DJs intent on maintaining the underground spirit of British bass music, The Nest presents welcomes grime forefather, Boy Better Know member and regular Rinse FM host, Jammer to headline proceedings.
With various projects under his belt, including curating the return of grime’s Lord of The Mics MC clash and working towards a second solo album, Jammer’s unique flows bring an old school feel to 2011’s current grime output.
At a time where eclecticism is celebrated and that ‘what do you call it?’ electronic sound is changing the fundamental rules of dance music, Mumdance is the guy paving the way for the scene’s ‘cross-breeding’ culture. As a DJ he’s just as much at home playing a Dirty Canvas grime rave as he is a nu-disco set at a Bugged Out! party, and as a producer he’s collaborated with the likes of Canblaster, Jammer, Brodinski, Drums of Death and Esser. He’s known for bringing both captivating energy and high-jinx to his sets (especially when Jammer’s on the mic) so he’s sure to have our basement brickwork rumbling on 14th.
Since Funkystepz’s ‘Fuller’ release on Kode 9’s Hyperdub imprint, the crew’s loop-based strain of underground house seems to have brought a revival to the UK Funky crop. Their beats are hard, their sets are uncompromisingly dance floor focused and the end of the year is looking neon bright for the London based outfit. Joined by Vectra, who’s daytime Rinse FM slot champions the best in vocalled grime and contemporary instrumentals, the bill is already shaping up to be a rave of cataclysmic proportions.
With Don’t Watch That TV’s Motive, Blackfoot Phoenix’s Skinny Macho and our longstanding club resident, Budakan also on board, we’re kicking off The Nest’s second year as we mean to go on.

On the 14th and 15th of October 2011, we at Trouble Vision, (Corsica Studios’ in house club night,) will celebrate our third birthday, and to do so we have well and truly pulled out all the stops; For the 2nd time this year we are proud to present ‘Double Trouble Vision.’

Apparat return after their sell out show at Scala earlier in the year for a full live show at KOKO. After many months in the studio, they have emerged with a new album ‘The Devil’s Walk’ due for release via Mute Records on 25th September. The album shifts it’s focus from the more dancefloor orientated projects of the past, as the band create a soundscape of electronica from percussion, cello, piano, and Apparat’s unique voice. Support comes from K7 signed When Saints Go Machine.

To celebrate the birth of Leisure System Records we bring some serious heat over from North America for our 2nd London party.

DJ Muggs has a CV that boasts productions not only for the incredible seven album he produced with Cypress Hill to which he is a founder member, but such time encapsulating classics as House of Pain’s “Jump Around”, Ice Cube’s “Check Yo Self” and his collective productions have chalked up no less than 20 million units! Not only that, he has released three albums to critical acclaim as Soul Assassins, which featured Dr Dre, B-Real, LA The Darkman, Mobb Deep, RZA, GZA, Goodie Mob, KRS One, Wyclef Jean, Prodigy, The Alchemist and many more artists across the LPs. Solo work, further collaborations such as the album Grandmasters with Wu Tang Klan’s GZA, just highlight what an important player DJ Muggs has been in the development of Hip Hop from the late 80′s, right through until today.
Currently on the road touring the Bass In Your Face events across the globe, to promote his new album of the same name, DJ Muggs takes on Brixton as the sole UK date, and Jamm are honoured to host this event.
Muggs is known for his dusty sound, eerie beats, soul-driven beats, rock samples, and hard hitting drums and bass, so will lead the charge alongside a line up that doesn’t rest with the headline, but also offers the cream of the UK hip hop and bass scene.
These UK artists playing on this night include Choice FMs DJ 279, first lady of hip hop Sarah Love, dubstep pioneer and Rinse FM’s DJ Chef, DJ, producer and founder of dubstep label Ghost Recordings El-B, founder of Sumting New and the BassFace label Cotti, Kiss FM’s MC Crazy D plus many more who you can see below.

★DJ Snuff – End Of The Weak/Speakers Corner
20 years in Hip-Hop with roots in DJing for major international Bboy tournaments such as B.O.T.Y & Fresh, Snuff has moved on to establish the Peoples Army movement with Lowkey & Logic after spending several years running pirate radio & open mic sessions [including being resident DJ at the legendary Deal Real Open Mic and being the one-man-gang behind the UK's leading Hip-Hop platform 'Speakers Corner'], all while running a dancehall sound system and nurturing the infamous international Hip-Hop community ‘End Of The Weak’ that now spans the globe. Snuff is most settled within grass roots & culture but he is no stranger to the major levels, from having just come off tour with Snoop Dogg and tearing it up with DJ Premier [where he stole the show] to working regularly with King Tubbys Sound System, Congo Natty, Immortal Technique, Dead Prez & many more. // With his skills, knowledge & a selection very few DJs can match, Snuff is still the one to watch!

SpectraSoul have a reputation among Drum & Bass heads that’s second to none. Vital members of DJ Friction’s irrepressible Shogun Audio movement, the duo have released music on only the very finest, most respected labels in the scene. Tracks such as ‘Alibi’ for Critical, ‘Melodies’ for Exit, ‘Guardian’ on Metalheadz and their stunning collaborations with Alix Perez on ‘Forsaken’ and dBridge on ‘Glimpse’, not to mention their highly acclaimed remix of Adele’s ‘Rolling In the Deep’, have insured SpectraSoul are one of the most talked about and respected acts in D&B today.
With an album project forthcoming, the duo look to expand musical boundaries, explore bass-driven genres like never before, and stamp their mark on present-day music… the SpectraSoul way.
LYNX (Detail Recordings, Soul:R)

Since emerging at the forefront of the drum & bass scene in 2007, Lynx has established a reputation for high quality productions with an innovative edge and DJ sets to match. Soul:R, Creative Source, Digital Soundboy and now his own imprint Detail Recordings are just some of the leading labels he’s released on and are proof that his sound is not only fresh but diverse.
With seminal tracks including ‘Disco Dodo’ and ‘Global Enemies’ and his sublime reworking of James Blake’s ‘Limit To Your Love’ under his belt, Lynx has clearly demonstrated he’s not afraid to break the mould whilst staying true to his own style.
Following on from his highly reputable debut album with Kemo MC, ‘The Raw Truth’, November 2011 sees the release of his much anticipated second album ‘Devils In The Detail’ on his own label Detail Recordings. Always one step ahead of the herd with a selection fresher than most, Lynx continues to set the pace in 2011 and beyond.

The Big Chill Presents returns this October for our Halloween extra special payback party with the Bruk Out Crew! We have got not one, not two but three of our favourite providers of the freshest UK Bass; Marcus Nasty, Greenmoney and Elijah & Skilliam, with the second room hosted by one of London’s liveliest Hip-Hop parties – Yo Mama! All wrapped up in a late late license and all for the wallet-smashing sum of ZERO PENCE!! You heard it straight austerity Britain, this party won’t cost a thing….
Marcus Nasty is recognised worldwide as the UK’s number one funky house DJ; let’s get real, he’s the DON!! He is respected as one of the leading pioneers within the UK House industry – not only mixing the music but also by scouting and promoting the biggest artists to come out of this scene. His weekly show on Rinse FM is essential listening and has pretty much single handedly defined the shape of UK Funky – In the same way his N.A.S.T.Y. Crew remoulded grime back in the day. Basically the man’s got dubplates bursting out his sides, and a billion terrrabytes of hits on his hard-drive and HE.IS.GOING.TO.KILL.IT.
From their first Kanye West remix to the current ridiculous floor shakers erupting from Greenmoney records, Leo Greenslade and Alex Phountzi – aka Greenmoney – have cause mad dancefloor chaos round the globe. With a serious pedigree between the two which includes Leo running the legendary YoYo night and Alex’s chart success with Bugz in the Attic, Greenmoney are that rarest of things – a sick production duo who also kill it as DJs. Cutting up a hyper energy mix of UK Funky, dancehall, dubstep, garage and house they’re gonna leave you sweating and pleading for more- if you don’t belive us, check out their recent Carnival mix –
http://soundcloud.com/fatrecords/greenmoney-ctfmix – see! TOLD YA!
Here at Bruk Out we’ve always loved grime – the most potent UK music of the last ten years hands down. So it’s inevitable that we’d be massive fans of Elijah & Skilliam; a DJ duo and label partnership who’s Rinse FM show has taken grime to new and genius levels. They’ve showcased non stop party smashing new talent, and best of all constantly proved that something doesn’t have to be cheesy to be a sing-a-long, or wacky obvious to be a crowd pleaser. Their Butterz label has gone from strength to strength and released one of this years biggest anthems in P Money & Black’s ‘Boo You’ -
Expect some serious HYPE!!
Head Bruk Out honchos Nasty & Mangno have been carving out new forms of crazy party sets over the last couple of years, smashing up grime, crunk, funky, dancehall, dubstep, RnB and global bass bangers til the crowd rip off the roof! Rocking parties up and down the country they’re armed with more cuts than a Tory chancellor… Exclusives, re edits, dubplates and classics are gonna be thrown down and the floor is gonna burn up…!
Having been consistently working East London’s Catch into a bass pumpin, head spinnin, bling flossin block party, it was time Yo Mama made their debut at Bruk Out. They’re gonna be running action in Room 2 all night long with a mix of classic 90s hip hop and RnB jams alongside box fresh floor fillers, all mixed to perfection, pure good times!
This is definitely going to be a roadblock event, so don’t show up to late or you ain’t getting in! And yes it’s Halloween so bring your best Saw victim costume, cower at the gore splattered 80s horror visuals and be very afraid of the massive asbestos statue we’ve carved into the shape of Theo Paphites’s evil squinting eyeballs (although we might not actually get that finished in time!).
This event is proudly sponsors by Amstel.
