Planet Mu Records will be taking over Corsica Studios in Elephant and Castle, London, on the 7th of May 2011 bringing you a night of the finest music from the label’s best producers and DJs.
First up is µ-Ziq a.k.a Mike Paradinas, the founder and owner of Planet Mu Records, who will be DJing as µ-Ziq and also performing live as part of the duo ‘Heterotic’, a brand new collaboration with Lara Rix-Martin (their remix of NastyNasty’s ‘No Names’ is set to drop on the following Monday – the 9th of May).
Irish duo Solar Bears will be also be performing live tracks from their debut Planet Mu LP ‘She Was Coloured In’ which was released to much critical acclaim last year while Northern Ireland’s finest producer and Planet Mu veteran Boxcutter will also be putting on his live show, treating us with music from his brand new album ‘The Dissolve’ set to be released on the 25th of April 2011.
Following on from the specialist footwork event at the Village Underground, planet mu continue to push Chicago’s ‘Footwork’ sound with legends DJ Spinn and DJ Rashad alongside Chrissy Murderbot whose debut LP ‘Women’s Studies’ is about to drop with it’s high energy blend of pop, dancehall, juke & rave.
Cambridge’s Oriol will be performing a DJ set. His hugely successful debut LP ‘Night And Day’ was released last year featuring lush synths and a truly fresh sound evoking the summertime grooves of 80s boogie, 70s soul and mid 80s electro and Detroit techno. Rossi B + Luca whose Grime/Funky crossover hit ‘Police Ar Come Run’ will no doubt be providing us with some high energy grime, garage and funky to keep you moving.
Planet Mu newcomers Tropics will be playing a full live show with guitarist and drummer. Their debut LP will be released on Planet Mu later this year. And last but not least Rudi Zygadlo will be performing his unique brand of intelligent pop, creating a collage of sounds borrowing influences from dubstep to indie.
