First up we would like to say a massive thanks to everyone who came to help us celebrate our 8th Birthday with Kerri Chandler. It was a truly special night and was great to see the faces of so many friends and regulars, who have joined us in our love house music over the last 8 incredible years. We salute you.
Our first event of 2012 falls on the first day of the year and kick starts what is set to be another exciting year for Muak. The venue will be familiar to the longest serving members of the Muak family, as it was actually the first venue we ever used – just over 8 years ago of course. This was a time when Shoreditch and Brick Lane was not even close to what it has become today and Muak was one of the first brands to set up home in the East London area. On that very night it was long serving residents and hosts, Zaki and Manish, who took the decks. It’s fair to say they are still going strong today and their love of house music is evidently still as strong as ever.
Joining them will be long terms friends Jimpster (Freerange / Buzzin Fly) and Milton Jackson (Freerange / Dark Energy).

nauti.cool by nature return for their monthly veritable rave off, with a feminine twist on the 90s revival, keeping it more trainspotter paradise than club fromage.
Tonight, joining their 90s house party is the legend that is A Guy Called Gerald. With a career spanning more the 20 years and having dipped his toe, very successfully & influentially, into pretty much every genre going from acid house to techno to jungle to breakbeat to electronica, who better to take it back to the 90s and play some of the tunes that have influenced him over the last 2 decades. This musically Manc hit the big time with acid tune Voodoo Ray in the late 80s and since then has been unstoppable. This is a very rare chance to catch him in this 200 capacity basement hub and get up close and personal with one of dance musics finest pioneers.
Sowing the seeds of jungle and drum and bass, Gerald launched Juicebox Records in ’91 and proceeded to take the label on tour in ’96. By his side for the 4 week stint was hype man and warm up DJ Normski – face of 90s culture show Dance Energy and general nice man about town! So 15 years on, who better to get the wheels oiled for the big man, If you can get your hands on their legendary set for One in the Jungle on BBC radio 1 you will know what a treat you could be in for tonight. With a mic to his mouth and some vinyl in his hands this man will remind you just how it went down back in the day.
nauti.cool and Hamish Pritchard are also on hand to get you warmed up with some new jack swing, rnb, hip hop and pop.

It’s the first London event we’ve held since selling out the 5,000 capacity Brixton Academy back in October. The last fabric event was so large the police were called in to clear the door as there were so many people queueing to get in! The 7th January marks the first date for us at fabric in 2011.
There’s an enormous line up with a Hospital-led Room One for hands-in-the-air business, an eclectic but incredibly on point, genre-blurring line up in Room Two plus a Med School takeover in Room Three taking things on a deep and minimal tip with some very forward thinking acts.

Just three words summed up the August Bank Holiday weekend; SOUTH WEST FOUR! The sun glistened over Clapham Common’s lush carpet, acting as a grassy base for thousands of discerning clubbers. Add to that four heaving arenas, with mind blowing performances from Fatboy Slim, Armin Van Buuren, Carl Cox, Salt N Pepa and Erick Morillo et al. The music, crowd, lasers, lighting and world class production all cemented the event as London’s premier electronic festival experience.
With summer a distant memory as London is caught up in the big freeze, we thought we would thaw you out by confirming the dates for South West Four 2011; our traditional Bank Holiday slot on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th August 2011. Be under no illusion, SW4 returns bigger and better than ever before – we have already gone that extra mile by confirming our colossal headline acts, both of which will be revealed soon.
The pre-sale ticket registration for SW4 2011 has now opened. To get first access to tickets once on sale please sign up now at www.southwestfour.com
We’re kicking off 2011 with some of the hottest tipped acts of the year. Electronic drawl-king Ghostpoet’s spooky beats tustle with Patten’s washes of Orb-esque synth madness, with Lapalux’s hazy half-step and Klaus’s minimal bass aesthetic providing exceptional support. Then we’ll tie our best records hard to the decks from Samiyam to James Blake to Star Slinger to FlyLo, Young Montana, J Dilla, Pariah, Sumsun, Take, Knxwledge, Machinedrum, Devonwho, mndsgn, Jai Paul, Museum of Belles Artes, Onra, Dunian, Mount Kimbie, Letherette, Fantastic Mr Fox, matthewdavid, Shlohmo, Martin Kemp, Kavsrave, Addison Groove, Run DMT, Doom and Walter Gibbons…

GHOST POET (Brownswood Recordings) – http://mysp.ac/ghostp
A hotly tipped MC/producer for 2011 who is a close compadre of Micachu and Kwes, Ghost Poet’s drone-heavy soundtracks follow a desolate off-the-tongue life of labour. Nothing spat from this guys mouth is substandard, these are the tales of daily dreary and ones where every word opens up a new dialogue, with tranquil sub-heavy programming to boot.
PATTEN – http://mysp.ac/pattenmys
With sound design so organic it made one of our residents cry upon first listen, Patten is carving a path for himself not-too-disimilar to that of the Border Community artists he fits in with. Having turned out a mind-blowing remix for Caribou’s ‘Swim Remixes’ LP and contributed to No Pain In Pop’s mini-comp release, this is the true bar of inventiveness set for the year to come.
LAPALUX – http://bit.ly/f01FpV
One of the fastest rising artists in London’s bass secene, and a soon to be breakout success of the year, Lapalux is a Beige-staple with the catalogue to boot. Climbing vine-coated trees only to drench the listener in blankets of crackling, disturbed roboticism, his material is another world from the US hip-hop and indie scenes from which he draws his inspiration.
KLAUS – http://mysp.ac/klausuk
Alongside Airhead, James Blake and Mount Kimbie I can easily catalogue Klaus. A UK bass upstart with tons of potential, yet strangely unsigned, this will be a chance for the man to flush his influences off the wrist whilst DJing alongside our residents.

Unlikely (Clandestine Cultivations/ Davey Jones/ Dubpressure/ Rinse FM)
Dubstep/ Garage
http://www.myspace.com/theominousunlikely
http://soundcloud.com/unlikely
Unlikely is a producer, DJ, promoter and co-founder of the Clandestine Cultivations and Davey Jones imprints. He and those behind Dubpressure built Brighton’s earliest dubstep scene from scratch way back when Skream cost a dollar or something. One time Rinse FM selecta, he’s DJ’d all over the UK and in Europe, with a dubstep and garage collection to be coveted.
Scrambled Ed (Life 4 Land/ Show Dem / Homegrown )
Bassline
http://www.scrambleded.com/
http://www.showdem.co.uk/scrambleded
http://www.myspace.com/scrambledproductions
http://soundcloud.com/scrambleded
Scrambled Ed hails from Cambridge originally, but lives in Brighton. His productions straddle bassline’s aggiest extremities and 2step garage, often using epic classical music and horny little R&B samples. Truthfully, this music will get you hypeee.
DJ Phinga aka Filthyfingertips (RLD/Twomanysteps/Dubpressure)
http://www.myspace.com/djfilthyfingertips
http://soundcloud.com/filthyfingertips
http://www.showdem.co.uk/phinga
DJ Phinga aka Filthyfingertips has always made banging dubstep, but since living with Scrambled Ed, has started employing cheekier melodies and more bashy, riding riddims since their creatively lucrative collaborations. His own stuff oscillates between deeply emotive and seismic assault- and is best when it combines the two.

To kick-off the new year we are throwing a launch party to celebrating the release the monumental Righteous EP at The CAMP Basement. Following our sell-out new years eve party at Big Chill House, this first session of 2011 promises to be a massive night, with live performances from the exciting talent featured on the 4-track EP.
We are delighted to announce that legendary MC Danman will be performing a live PA of Righteous on the night. Danman has conquered the Reggae scene on an international level as the frontman of Iration Steppas and a respected recording artist on a wide range of classic Reggae and Dubstep releases. Playing alongside Danman on the night will be Evergreen, the producer behind the original Righteous single. Evergreen is already making waves with his Gentleman’s Dub Club and Submotion Orchestra projects and is definitely one to watch for 2011. Expect a lively selection of pounding Steppers, Dubstep and Roots, including dubplates from his own Rankin Records imprint.
The Righteous EP follows the seminal Ghetto Priest single; Evolution. The 12” Righteous release uniquely meanders between 4 sub-genres of Reggae, covering classic Dub, digital Steppers, Dubstep and Future Bass. It has already made its way into the record boxes of taste making DJs such as N-Type & Rob Da Bank and after its official release on February 7th, its set to send shockwaves through sound systems across the globe.
Our third and final special guest on the night will be Righteous remixer Dark Arx. Fledgling producer Dark Arx is a key player in the emerging London future bass scene. His remix on the EP builds on his influences of Dub Techno heros such as Rhythm & Sound and the Basic Channel movement. Dark Arx will be playing the final set of the night, with a classic roots selection, morphing into an exploration into the fringes of the Dubstep & Future garage. This is a rare treat at Reggae Roast, prepare to delve deep into the future of London’s electronic soundscape. Fans of Scuba, Peverelist and Ramadanman are in for a real treat here.
Also playing on the night will be founders of Reggae Roast Exel & Moodie and resident Dub Hunter. This months session will be hosted by our very own Ramon Judah. Expect to hear the freshest selection of classic Revival, Dub, Steppers, Dubstep and Digi-Roots as well as forthcoming dubplates from Reggae Roast Records.
This first dance of 2011 at The City Arts & Music Project will set the tone for an exciting year to come as the monthly residency plays host to a plethora of artists from across the UK and beyond, supported by our very own Roots & Culture specialists Exel & Moodie.
As always this event is only £5 before 11pm and capacity is limited to 350 so arrive early for guaranteed entry.

For the first time ever, Corsica Studios’ in-house night Trouble Vision will be taking over a whole weekend at the club, in the form of an event called ‘Double Trouble Vision.’ The 2 nights will cover 2 musical angles; the Friday will cater for what, over the past 2 years Trouble Vision has become known for, while the musical styling on the Saturday night will be somewhat deeper.
For the first leg of the weekend, Trouble Vision proudly presents the 3rd edition of Toddla T and Raf Daddy’s Girls Music label showcase, headed up by none other than Sir David Rodigan. With hefty support all the way down this promises to be the perfect way to end those resolutions and blow away those winter blues.

On Friday 28th January Together and Scandalism present the return to London of Radio 1′s Jaymo & Andy George cult club night MODA, for the very first time at XOYO.
Having sold out The Coronet as part of Together Season 1 and following a hugely successful season at Eden in Ibiza, MODA’s first show in the Capital in 2011 continues in similar vein. Featuring arguably the biggest line-up to so far grace the Capital’s most electric new venue, the success of MODA in London follows in the footsteps of Jaymo & Andy George’s Radio 1 show, MODA in Lincoln and the ever expanding MODA record label.
The event’s headliner A-Trak, is a true music phenomenon. Having been the youngest ever DMC World Champion aged just fifteen, he went on to win five more titles, as well as every other DJ competition of note. He followed this by becoming Kanye West’s tour DJ, playing stadiums across the world. A-Trak truly arrived as an electronic DJ/producer with his Fabric 45 mix and his seminal remix of Yeah Yeah Yeah’s ‘Head’s Will Roll’. The formation of ‘Duck Sauce’, a musical collaboration between A-Trak and Armand Van Helden, has brought real commercial success, first with last year’s summer anthem ‘aNYway’. This will be his first London show since Duck Sauce’s ‘Barbra Striesand’ charted at number 3, so expect nothing other than a road block!
Also on the bill is an exclusive DJ Set from Fenech Soler. The electro-disco producers released their first single on MODA, having been discovered by Jaymo & Andy George. They make a triumphant return to MODA having enjoyed a phenomenal six months. And with this performance being their first in London since their sell out show at Heaven and last before they headline Koko in March, this makes this homecoming all the more unmissable.
Producer of Ellie Goulding, and everyone’s top tip for 2011, Starsmith brings his disco, house and electro to MODA, alongside Neon Gold label mate Russ Chimes and an exclusive live set from the mysterious Monarchy. Moda resident Tom Staar is also on the bill, alongside two very special (and very big) guests to be announced. The most breathtaking lineup of the New Year has arrived.

On Saturday 29th January, we’re incredibly proud to present Theo Parrish to the top of the bill of our main room. The Detroit legend will be playing an extended 3 hour set alongside Motor City Drum Ensemble with additional support from TV resident Park Ranger.
In room 2 we have handed proceedings over to the more than capable AUS Music. Ramadanman (aka Pearson Sound,) Midland and label head honcho Will Saul will all be playing 2 hour sets.
